Job description, responsibilities and duties

The Director IBS Data Governance Operations & Transformation is a member of the Data Management (DM) Governance Team and of the newly formed Mondelēz Enterprise Data Council. He/her will lead an organization-wide effort to establish processes, documentation, data ownership, and ongoing adherence to all data management policies, procedures, and data governance framework. This position requires the ability to lead cross-functional teams and leaders both strategically and tactically and collaborate well vertically and horizontally throughout the organization. This role will be part of the Global Information Business Service team and will have a strong collaboration and influence on business data domain owners and experts across the different functions and BUs. The role has a high level of visibility and responsibility ensuring our account data is clean and trusted. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Mondelēz resources related to Enterprise data solutions architecture and technology. S/he will have the responsibility to connect, track and report value created by connecting data attributes and processes to value areas in the business.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of the data governance transformation program leveraging and enhancing the governance framework including defining strategic priorities
  • Drive development of standards, policies, and procedures to assure on-going implementation of the governance framework within the business and IBS
  • Oversee Data Cataloguing and Data Governance reporting. Advance Data Governance solutions Data Cataloging, Data Quality and others to enable a sustainable and measurable governance practice in partnership with the DMS Operations and Transformation Team
  • Lead sessions to identify and document domain critical data sets, business rules, scorecards required for Domain Data Governance
  • Educate and mentor Data Owners, Data Stewards, Data Custodians and Data SME’s across IBS and the business to ensure sustainability of Data Governance & Stewardship practices at Mondelez
  • Define, manage, and ensure an adequate information trust model, controls for master data and metadata management. Ensure that appropriate audit controls exist for data
  • Define and align ownership of reference data for the Company
  • Serves as a business consultant on business problems, identifies data needs and formulates data solutions, creates practical development roadmaps, and presents recommendations to stakeholders at all levels of the business & IBS
  • Actively participate in the Data Councils and Steering Committees providing input, updates and put forward specific asks for support to the Leadership that impact their data domains
  • Define, manage and advance enterprise information management principles, policies and programs for stewardship, advocacy and custodianship of data and analytics, in partnership with Security, Legal and Internal Controls
  • Define performance indicators to ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements
  • Measure master data and reference data for compliance to policy, standards and conceptual models
  • Partner with the DMS transformation team to identify and define relevant artifacts as well as develop and maintain an inventory of enterprise information maps, including authoritative systems and owners
  • Identify new business opportunities pertaining to the use of data enterprise assets to achieve efficiency and effectiveness in the marketplace / represent data as a strategic business asset at the Senior Management table.

  • The role reports to the Director Data Governance Lead
  • The post will be preferably located in our Bratislava (Slovakia) MEU Data Management HUB or alternatively in our Mumbai office.

Candidate Profile

Dynamic and commercially oriented data professional with a strong track record leading the design and implementation of successful data, process improvement, and technology strategies at the global level in multi-national business. Ability to set overall governance strategy and measure progresses through tangible business outcomes and specific business metrics. Passionate to champion and advocate the work of the Data Stewards, with the intent of eliminating barriers between business units and functions providing advocacy for the time spent and value generated on governance efforts. This is a critical leadership position, and s/he will be excited by the opportunity to drive business transformation and challenge and improve existing data governance business models.

Knowledge, Experience and Education:
  • 10+ years Data Management / Data Domains experience in IT and business functions, ideally in the consumer goods industry
  • Knowledge of business process & how data are leveraged to create business outcomes
  • Proven experience developing and executing successful data governance strategies that deliver sustainable earnings and a competitive advantage.
  • Understand the business benefit of data governance, data quality, data security and data ethics
  • Expert knowledge of data quality and goverance standards coupled with experience at systemazing them in IT governace solutions.
  • Proven experience with Data Quality and Data Management tools, such as Collibra, Informatica, Alation, DEMS among others
  • Experienced at identifying and evaluating innovative data technology companies and leading negotiations to conclude partnerships and/or alliances.
  • Familiar operating in large and complex multi-national organizations to create alignment for her/his strategic priorities across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in working across functions with ability to interact effectively with and be credible with Senior leadership
  • Degree in Data Management, IT, Computer Science or equivalent
  • DAMA certifications and SAP S/4 knowledge a plus
