Job description, responsibilities and duties

Join a team of cybersecurity professionals and help Swiss Re to fulfil its mission in making the world more resilient. As the Site Reliability Engineer, you'll be using DevOps tools to maintain and improve our technical infrastructure, supporting the existing app-focused operations engineering team, and migrating pipelines to novel solutions. What's more, you'll be working in a hybrid setup, perfectly balancing work from home and the office premises.

About the team

The Security Team is the focal point for all security activities across Swiss Re. We are responsible for cybersecurity engineering and operations, governance, risk and compliance, and defining as well as advancing the company's security strategy. As a part of the Security Team, CoE (Centre of Excellence) DevOps and Reliability Engineering is a team focused on building and implementing a monitoring and alerting solutions for the Security Team's IAM (Identity & Access Management) applications for the Security Team. We're looking for a skilled engineer who'll help us upkeep and improve our existing infrastructure and support the migration of existing pipelines to modern solutions.

In your role, you will…

- Use DevOps tools to maintain Infrastructure as Code, automate changes and implement CI/CD delivery
- Support the Operations Engineering team in their daily work and in operations automation
- Fix, improve, and advance infrastructure while solving underlying issues
- Collaborate with team members to plan projects and analyse requirements
- Identify and eliminate toil by introducing automation
- Help to migrate CI/CD pipelines from Bamboo to Azure DevOps
- Be someone who believes in continuous innovation, is curious and relentless in finding a better way every day

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

- Demonstrable work experience in IT operations, system administration or other applicable experience
- Passion, drive and a belief in the value of technical infrastructure improvement as an enabler of business performance
- Experience with Okta administration, application integration and Okta API
- Experience with agile software development methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban), CI/CD processes, automation for release and deployment processes, and DevOps
- A methodical, organised approach, proficient at prioritising tasks and driving objectives to completion, reporting any impediments along the way
- A high level of integrity, result-oriented approach, and composure under pressure
- Strong communication, influencing, and collaboration skills
- Good communication skills in spoken and written English

Nice-to-have

- A degree in Computer Science or comparable field
- Understanding of technology solutions for information security and IAM
- Understanding of SSO/federated authentication methods (SAML, OIDC) and their components
- Proficiency in one or more programming and scripting languages (e.g., Java, JavaScript, Bash, PowerShell, etc.)
- Proficiency in SQL, web applications, Linux system administration
- Experience with cloud technologies (public, private, hybrid)
- Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Hands-on experience managing infrastructure in cloud environments and using automation, configuration management and provisioning tools (e.g., Terraform, Puppet, Azure DevOps)
