About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to extend our data platform and build data pipelines. The role includes the following responsibilities:
• Design, evolve and maintain our data platform
• Create, develop and own data pipelines to move data across multiple systems
• Lead all aspects of the data acquisition, ingestion and staging
• Partner with analysts, engineers and data scientists to help provide them their data needs
• Automate data processes and improve overall code base
• Contribute to data architecture design and define priorities for the data engineering team
• Ensure a strong focus on data quality, data governance and data management best practices
• Build close relationship with SwissRe Group IT and Data services

You will join our dynamic and cross-functional Data & Analytics team located between Bratislava and Zurich. We cover both the technical and business aspects of data processing across the entire insurance value chain, from partner onboarding to data insight delivery. We are developing a new data lake/database application from scratch using cutting edge technology.

• Several years of practical experience with data or software engineering
• Experience in cloud computing (AWS preferred)
• ETL design and implementation experience with cloud-based or traditional tools Data Mart implementation, Data Quality, Data Profiling, SCD types
• Strong coding experience in SQL and Python
• Strong analytical skills, ability to analyse large sets of data
• Commitment to data quality, attention to detail and solution oriented
• Knowledge of data streaming and real-time technologies (Kafka, Kinesis) is a plus
• Data architect experience, ideally focused on Data Modelling (Conceptual, Logical, Physical)
• Project management skills are a plus
• Can-do attitude and willingness to learn
• English language proficiency
