Job description, responsibilities and duties

We are looking for a Senior Business Solutions Architect to join the Business Solutions Architecture CoE. You will be responsible to shape and drive architecture for the solution that are used across all functional areas of Swiss Re. You will actively contribute to implementing the Swiss Re strategy to make better use of data and becoming a digital knowledge company.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to work in a cross-functional, global and dynamic environment with colleagues across Business Functions and Information Technology, applying end-to-end architecture development frameworks and consulting methodologies. Effectively lead, execute or support initiatives to identify, design and implement business solutions that fit into the architecture and roadmap of various domains of Swiss Re applying agile practices making best use of modern technologies. As part of the architecture CoE you will also support to drive enterprise-wide and cross-functional architecture improvement initiatives and maintain the long-term view in order to meet key business objectives and fit the needs of modern technologies.

As a Senior Business Solutions Architect you have a solid background in the all aspects of Architecture. In addition, you look back to a consistent track record deeper information technology solution & technical architecture.

- Fundamentally you are a deep listener, who understands the need to grasp a problem, and spend time reflecting upon options, before moving to a solution.

- Ideally you understand the difference between IQ and EQ at a detailed level. Any history of coaching is a plus. For you, being a great architect is as much about the human part as the technical.

About the Team

The Business Solutions Architecture CoE is a small team in a newly created unit where we will drive architecture harmonization and introduction of common components across Swiss Re. The unit provides a dynamic, challenging environment and offers a unique learning opportunity across all areas of Swiss Re.

Personality requirements and skills

Qualification and Experiences:
- Master degree or equivalent in IT, engineering or related fields
- At least 3 years of experience working in a leading Architecture or related role in a complex global environment
- Deep technical knowledge - patterns and solution architectures. Micro services, CI/CD, TDD, APIs are more than buzz words for you and you know how to make the best of it
- Continuous learner who stays up-to-date with the latest trends and carefully vet with proper pragmatism and long-term vision the adoption of new technologies
- Reinsurance/ Insurance know-how is advantageous
- Definite interest in "Digital Transformation" and its potential impact on trusted business models
- Agile mindset, ability to navigate ambiguity, pragmatic and "can do" attitude with strong customer orientation
- Team player and able to work in an environment of high levels of change and diversity of activities with validated ability to drive and lead in cross-functional teams and a passion to own and deliver outcomes
- Confident to engage courageously, challenge constructively and voice opinions in developing new solutions as well as improving existing solutions
- Strong influencing skills when working with diverse stakeholders with competing interests to achieve alignment throughout the organisation
- You have the ability to facilitate workshops with different audiences. Enthusing the participants to think about things differently. Lead the process. Confirmed experience of presenting to all levels throughout the organisation.
