Job description, responsibilities and duties

The (Transactional) Enterprise Document Management Squad delivers company-wide solutions offering according core capabilities in the area of document induction, OCR'ing, format transformation (renditions), template-based document generation, document storage and transactional document management. The team covers and manages the life cycle of according base components fully end-to-end. It defines and devises the technical target architecture as well as the guidelines & standards for transactional document management.

As a Product Owner you will develop products or services for above scope within the existing defined business model. You will be embedded in a Squad and work directly with fellow squad members to prioritize and manage what needs to be done and by when to deliver state-of-the-art transactional document management capabilities to the enterprise and keep according solutions fit for the future by constantly updating them with the newest and most relevant technologies.

You will be a servant leader with no direct line authority over squad members, and will closely coordinate with your Product Area Lead (PAL) to stay aligned on business goals and make sure your Squad is progressing and delivering against them to meet clients' requirements and needs.

You will also represent the voice of the customer, whether internal or external, and make sure that Squad members understand customer needs and preferences. To get this work done, you will maintain and prioritize the backlog of user stories that your Squad members will use to plan their work and deliver on target. Through your passion for the products delivered by your Squad, you aim at maximizing their value(s) to customers and seek for potential new customers.

Your main responsibilities:
- To set the overall vision to direct, inform and prioritize the order of work, to maximize value within constraints of resources, strategy and compliance, and to do so with an entrepreneurial mindset
- To incubate and commercialize innovative, disruptive solutions, using data and validation techniques incl. demo, usability testing, A/B testing to prove hypothesis
- To co-create, prioritize and communicate product roadmaps and high-level Squad backlogs using iterative techniques with feedback loops, to provide transparency of the backlog and align squad members with all stakeholders
- To communicate financial forecasts with business case creation identifying market segmentation and bring clarity on the value proposition
- To balance & manage technical debt in line with customer value work and to deliver to Squad mission and objectives in shared accountability with the Product Area Lead
- To ensure voice of the customer is heard and focused on by the Squad, and customer requirements and priorities are reflected in backlog prioritization
- To ensure cooperation between Squads and manage interdependencies, and in close collaboration with the Scrum Master remove impediments and create an environment for people to excel
- To support and guide the Squad to deliver on budget and in time to clear scope, with clear guidance on timelines and with clear acceptance criteria
- To architect sound, scalable and maintainable base solutions (= platform, no business applications) in (transactional) document management area that can be used cross-domain by all clients
- To make integrated (transactional) document management solution available in all regions, all required Clouds and on all required platforms (containerization)
- To help consolidate the area of transactional document management within Swiss Re, limiting the number of independent technologies used in this space

About the Team

The mission of the Squad is to:
- Deliver a company-wide solution for transactional document management, providing functionality and document storage that can be used in all the business domains and by end users as needed through standard, modern interfaces (APIs)
- Provide needed capabilities & functionality for document induction, for OCR’ing, renditions, template-based document generation and document management, covering the full end-to-end life cycle
- Define the technical target architecture and the tools for transactional document management, and define guidelines & standards for transactional document mgmt.

The core scope of the Product Area includes:
- Define, design and provide data exchange, data integration and data transformation capabilities and core solution(s) for Swiss Re (for internal & external data exchange)
- Provide features for defining producers & consumers of data, support data lineage
- Define and provide basis for easy-to-use reporting solutions to clients (dev teams)
- Design and provide scheduling, job execution and automation capabilities across the various platforms in use within Swiss Re that can be leveraged in all business applications as needed
- Provide job execution control & logging end-to-end (critical path, monitoring, …)
- Deliver state-of-the-art transactional document management, providing needed capabilities & functionality for document induction, OCR’ing, renditions, template-based document generation and document management
- Consolidate technologies, solutions and platforms used within Swiss Re for data exchange, scheduling & batch execution, and document management
- Define target tech. architectures, and guidelines and standards in mentioned areas
- Keep provided solutions fit to meet business’/clients’ changing requirements by constantly updating it with the newest & most relevant technologies

Personality requirements and skills

- Degree in related field or long-standing relevant experience in technology domain
- Qualification as CSPO / PSPO (certified/professional scrum product owner) or ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge
- Product Domain (document management) expertise, proven data & analytical skills and capabilities
- Experience understanding customer needs and eliciting clients' requirements, strong business & financial acumen and strategic mindset
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to influence in servant leadership style, ability to motivate others across line management boundaries. Must be an experienced communicator with strong communication skills, both, in writing & verbal
- Strong analytical & conceptual skills, strong in setting priorities and prioritizing work items to achieve objectives and deliver in a timely manner
- Strategic thinking while pragmatic
- English fluency is a must
- Readiness for close teamwork cross multiple locations
- Agile mindset and working habit, fully engaged within Squad/team player
