Life & Health Underwriting represents individual assessment of risk for life and living benefit applicants.

Your role as an underwriter based in Bratislava will be to support all the activities of our teams based in the major cities across Europe. Following a period of intensive training, you will learn how to use and apply our world leading underwriting manual. You will have a strong support of our extensive network of experts and you will be able to make recommendations on those individual risks which insurance companies refer to Swiss Re.

As your skills grow, you will also participate in other services which we provide to our clients, including product development, training material preparation, training delivery and, subject to language skills, translation.


As a L&H Underwriter, you will be responsible for running the following:

-Registration of underwriting cases via our administrative system
-Assessment of medical and financial documents (blood tests, cardiovascular reports… and accounting / financial documents) to establish a recommendation with the help of our underwriting tool and Medical Officers
-Preparation and/or onsite support for client facing activities, such as trainings and audits
-Support for translation of our underwriting-related tools

About the Team

We are a new team of underwriters who support several markets across the EMEA region on the business side, including cases assessment and various client needs. We work closely with regional and cross-functional partners.

Personality requirements and skills

About You

-L&H insurance/reinsurance experience with underwriting skills would be a real advantage, but we are open to consider other relevant backgrounds such as medical knowledge (e.g. nurse, physiotherapist, health professional in general) or as a financial specialist
-Having background in medicine/biology/pharmacy is an advantage, however we are happy to teach the medical topics.
-You are advanced in English and other European language
-You bring analytical and critical thinking
-You consistently demonstrates curiosity, energy and interest in learning new skills
-You are flexible (able to juggle the diverse demands of multiple partners)
-You possess good communication skills
-You are a real teammate: share knowledge and information with others
