About the role

Do you have accounting knowledge, full financial statements understanding and analytical skills, which enable you to explain financial data? Do you fluently speak English and are you passionate about driving complex transaction discussions?
Then you might be the right person we are passionate about.

We are looking for an experienced colleague for our Accounting & Reporting team mainly responsible for the closing and reporting of the European non-reinsurance legal entities.
You will assume responsibility for different European countries in the end-to-end Accounting & Reporting process of assigned legal entities, according to the relevant accounting principles. You will ensure compliance with local statutory and group reporting requirements and the internal control framework.

Main activities of the team are:
• Closing activities on a quarterly basis for assigned entities (e.g. service, investment, financing and holding companies) including accounting tasks.
• Quarterly Group Reporting in line with the corporate US GAAP as well as statutory accounting principles and internal Economic Valuation Method (EVM), including analysis and legal entity reporting preparation and presentation to senior finance management, BoD and other stakeholders
• Preparation and coordination with internal & external auditors to conduct audit activities, contact person for assigned entities for internal partners and both internal and external auditors where required
• Participation and driving the projects and complex transactions as required
• The position acts with a high degree of autonomy & discretion within the delegated authority

Key accountabilities are:
• Full Trial balance responsibility including closing related bookings, reconciliation and substantiation of accounts (Statutory / US GAAP)
• Ownership of the legal entity in Statutory , US GAAP and Economic reporting in compliance with relevant accounting principles including management reporting, annual accounts production, ad hoc reporting
• Active management of the Balance Sheet e.g. Cash, Capital monitoring
• Coordination within team and with external partners
• Ensure operational compliance with statutory and group policies and internal control framework

About the team

We are a team spread in different locations within EMEA region with our main mandate to proceed with quarterly and annually closing activities including the preparation of the final reporting packages presented to senior management. We are based in Switzerland, Luxembourg, Germany, Slovakia and UK.
Our main partners are Non-Technical Accounting team, Global Investment Reporting team, Real Estate team, Treasury, Tax and Global Service Operations.

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Other knowledge

Microsoft Excel - Advanced

Personality requirements and skills

About you

• 7+ years in Accounting / Reporting or Audit with Accounting / CPA qualification
• Knowledge of at least one relevant statutory accounting and reporting policy e.g. Slovak GAAP, German HGB, Luxembourg GAAP, IFRS, UK GAAP, Danish GAAP, Swiss GAAP and/or US GAAP
• Experience with some accounting activities, including the production of Annual Accounts, the Audit process and respective reporting (statutory)
• Analytical skills with the ability to deliver quality output on short deadlines
• Ability to work independently
• Analytical and methodical work-style combined with good business discernment and high-quality output with an ability to communicate at the management level and lead meetings efficiently
• Real teammate who is used to working in a highly professional and international environment
• Fluent in English, any other European language especially German is a plus
