Job description, responsibilities and duties

Facultative EMEA is building up an underwriting team in Bratislava to write P&C Single Risk business. Therefore, we are looking for a highly motivated Team Coach to support the setup of operations, coordinate know-how transfer, foster team spirit and to ensure consistency of service and communication. With her/his entrepreneurial drive and mindset she/he will build and develop the new team to an important pillar in the Facultative EMEA target operating model. The successful candidate will liaise both, locally in Bratislava as well as with the existing teams in Zurich and Munich and lead the teams through the transition phase. Over time and with additional UWR know-how and experience, the Team Coach will also handle UWR accounts. Based on performance and experience, the Team Coach may be promoted to Team Manager and local FAC EMEA LST representative at a later date.

Main tasks:
People-/ Team-Leadership
- Drive the hiring and on-boarding process, coordinate the know-how transfer, foster team spirit, translate business strategy and assure consistency in a fragmented team setup
- Build up and lead a team of P&C FAC underwriters
- Responsibility for a team acting in several markets in EMEA
- Foster cross functional team collaboration
- Develop underwriting talent (development of rather junior underwriters)
- Act as a dotted line manager to the underwriters and entertain close relationships with the team members' line managers until the Line Manager responsibility is fully transferred
- Be a role model in behavior competencies (personal-/leadership imperatives) and Swiss Re culture
- Nurture strong feedback culture within the team and the stakeholder community

Functional leadership
- Change- and stakeholder management
- Ensure Training, knowledge sharing (on and off-the-job)
- Representation of the UW team in the Bratislava location
- Facilitate Sales and Negotiation skills transfer (from Senior to Junior)
- Input for cost planning and budget allocation (staff, continuing education, annual compensation review)
- In collaboration with Fac Desk Heads implement operationally effective and efficient processes

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, any other European language is an asset
- Located in Bratislava with availability for business travel
- Effective communicator, at ease and successful in acting in a multi-cultural and multi-locations environment
- Live leadership imperatives every day
- Some industry experience (Primary- or Reinsurance) is an asset
- Motivated to build up Underwriting skills and willing to develop into a FAC Underwriting role in addition to the managerial role
- Sales acumen
- Actively contribute to and support the leadership team (Fac EMEA Extended Leadership team)
