About the role
Do you have deep accounting knowledge, full financial statements and reporting process experience as well as strong analytical skills to enable you to provide valuable input and advice to a finance team? Do you speak English fluently? Are you passionate about driving implementation of complex transactions? Then you might be the person we are looking for.

Main tasks/ Activities:
• Provide expertise and advice in financial reporting to the team including respective documentation and decision making support
• Lead and take full ownership of the accounting & reporting assessment during the implementation of strategic transactions and/or initiatives involving the entities in scope
• Actively represent the team or take the lead in global working groups around complex projects impacting the team or entities in scope
• Play a significant role in the annual external audit strategy definition, identification of key risks and related mitigation plan
• Perform operational and financial risk assessment regarding relevant reporting processes or entities in close coordination with management as well as owning the agreed remediation plan
• Provide support to the team leader and accounting experts in the closing & reporting process to ensure quality and accuracy of financial information provided to senior management
• Challenge status quo and establish a strong network of accounting & reporting professionals within Swiss Re Group
• Establish strong base of local accounting and reporting standards knowledge and driving implementation of the changes into the internal processes and systems including necessary trainings for the team and other stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with the relevant internal control framework, local and group policies
• Together with the team leaders develop and coach a strong team of accounting & reporting experts
• Oversees accounting experts and manages activities related to contributing accounting and reporting expert view in strategic projects
• Communicates effectively with stakeholders and partners to ensure common goals and expectations.

The position acts with a high degree of autonomy & discretion within the delegated.

About the team
We are a team based mainly in Bratislava with the mandate to report legal entity financial information of non-reinsurance entities domiciled in different countries within EMEA region according to different accounting standards. Our activities include quarterly and annual closing, variance analysis and the preparation & presentation of legal entity reporting packages to Senior Finance Management. We are now looking for a subject matter expert ("SME") to complement our Financial Reporting team who plays a key role in the development and coaching of a strong team of accounting and reporting experts. You will provide technical accounting and reporting advice to the team for their assigned legal entities according to the relevant accounting principles. You will also take the lead on finance initiatives and the implementation of key transactions, closely working with the team leaders and the team. You will also be responsible for the compliance in relation to the accounting & reporting of the team's legal entities according to the relevant accounting principles, local and group requirements, and the internal control framework.

Personality requirements and skills

About you
-8+ years in Audit with respective Accounting Qualification, ACCA or CPA
-Expert knowledge in relevant group and statutory accounting and reporting policies (US GAAP and /or IFRS required, other GAAPs an advantage)
-Proven experience with statutory reporting including the production of Annual Accounts, the audit process and respective reporting to Committees and Boards
-Proven experience in decision support which includes development of proposals/solutions, stakeholder management and written & oral communication and presentations, with focus on accounting or reporting advisory and analysis
-Management experience in leading teams in a global environment preferred
-Manages multiple priorities and competing demands. Acts resourcefully to ensure that work is completed within specified time and quality targets
-Ability to communicate adequately at the senior management level but equally to less experienced members of the team
-Analytical skills with the ability to deliver quality output under tight deadlines and manage details without losing sight of the big picture
-Ability to work independently, in a target-oriented environment
-Analytical and methodical work-style combined with good business judgment
-Ability to influence in a complex, cross-functional and multi-location environment
-Fluent in English (written and spoken), any other European language is a plus
