Job description, responsibilities and duties

Data specialist plays a vital part in ensuring the successful implementation of a new ERP system (S4 HANA) by focusing on data quality, mapping, and migration. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with various internal stakeholders, including Global Data Owners (GDOs), front-line representatives (FLs) within business units, and the BPR project team. This collaboration will guarantee accurate, clean, and consistent data throughout the implementation process, facilitating a smooth transition to the new system.

Key Responsibilities:

Liaison:
  • Collaborate with GDOs, FLs, and the BPR team to identify, understand, and address data-related challenges throughout the ERP implementation.
  • Facilitate open communication and knowledge sharing between teams for efficient problem-solving.

Data Quality Champion:
  • Perform data quality checks and analyses in source systems to identify and rectify errors and inconsistencies.
  • Develop and implement data improvement actions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to defined standards.
  • Collaborate with the data team to establish and maintain effective data quality practices.

Data Mapping and Cleansing Expert:
  • Support the creation and refinement of data maps to ensure accurate mapping of data elements from various sources to the new ERP system.
  • Utilize data mapping tools and techniques to effectively cleanse and prepare data for migration.

Data Extraction, Validation, and Reconciliation Master:
  • Support the extraction of data from source systems for migration to the new ERP system.
  • Execute data validation procedures to confirm data accuracy and completeness.
  • Reconcile discrepancies between different data sources to ensure data integrity.

Parallel Project Impact Assessment:
  • Proactively identify any parallel projects that could impact the ERP implementation, particularly on data quality, processes, and timelines.
  • Analyze the potential impact of these projects and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions and ensure data consistency.

Data Issue Resolution Specialist:
  • Address data issues identified during mock cycles, dress rehearsals, and production data loads.
  • Troubleshoot and correct defects in data migration rulesets and support migration cut-over activities.

Deliverables:
  • Deep understanding of data objects and their relationship to specific cleansing actions.
  • Comprehensive data profiling reports and baseline quality assessments.
  • Troubleshooting and defect resolution reports for data migration rulesets, supporting smooth migration cut over.
  • Timely resolution of data issues identified during data mock cycles, dress rehearsals, and production data loads.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
