Job description, responsibilities and duties

The Chief Investment Officer Office (CIO Office) is a fundamental and integral part of Swiss Re's investment process, from the long term investment strategy to the actual implementation of the Strategic Asset Allocation. It is responsible for the assessment of the global investment landscape, analyzing various asset classes and market opportunities as well as optimizing the investment framework in which Swiss Re's Business Units operate. Furthermore it designs and implements various investment mandates for both internal and external asset managers.

As an Investment Analyst in the CIO Office, a generalist function, you will support all the sub-teams, Investment Strategy, Asset Allocation, Portfolio Steering and Portfolio Analytics on various tasks like financial market analysis, process reviews, preparing presentations and other ad-hoc tasks on behalf of the entire CIO Office.

In your role, you will primarily support the Portfolio Analytics team. This team is responsible for the investment process, the maintenance of mandate benchmarks and the facilitating of the definition of the investment strategy. Furthermore, Portfolio Analytics maintains appropriate exposure information to allow risk and performance analysis for Asset Management. It provides portfolio and scenario analysis for relevant performance metrics.

In this case, you will overlook the Risk budgeting framework, Swiss Re's liability-driven investment process. You will monitor the development of investment risks, perform portfolio analysis and contribute to various presentations for management, working in close collaboration with colleagues in other Swiss Re locations. You will also be involved in defining and rolling out investment benchmarks for our internal and external investment managers.

The role is defined as a starting position within Swiss Re with the opportunity to take over further responsibilities depending on skills and on-the-job development.

• Support the teams within CIO Office on various tasks, e.g. process reviews, provide analysis, develop presentations and manage projects
• Monitor the liability-driven investment process to ensure controlled risk-taking
• Maintenance of the investment benchmarks to ensure a smooth investment process
• Advice on definition and roll-out of investment benchmarks to investment managers
• Perform financial markets, investment and quantitative analysis in order to steer the investment strategy

University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Other knowledge

Microsoft Excel - Advanced

Personality requirements and skills

University degree in Engineering, Finance or Economics subject. Progress towards CFA, FRM or actuarial designation is a plus.
Knowledge of major asset classes and investment types.
Work experience in a financial organization (e.g. internship) or on investment strategy and/or portfolio management would be a plus.

• Excellent written and spoken English skills
• Strong MS-Office skills, PowerPoint and Excel in particular
