About the Role:

The Head Sourcing (HS) EMEA provides leadership for all responsible areas across the Countries in scope of Regional Sourcing EMEA to ensure it delivers measurable value for Swiss Re. The HS is accountable for the implementation and translation of the Targeted Standard and the global Category Strategies including related sub-categories in the EMEA region to leverage Swiss Re scale and position in the market. The Head Sourcing (HS) EMEA is responsible for leading the Sourcing organization in the EMEA region (Switzerland and UK are excluded). The HS is accountable for ensuring delivery of proactive, reactive and transactional procurement, sourcing execution and activities services in the Countries in scope of the EMEA region across all categories. In addition, the HS is responsible for the facilitation of regional business partners input to both global and local Sourcing activity, as well as issue management and resolution for local regional business partners.

• Accountable for the bottom-up aggregation of EMEA region data across divisions and countries to inform the top-down target setting process at a regional level
• Accountable for build of sustainable business partners network in EMEA region with strategic long term relationships
• Accountable for ensuring Country Sourcing Managers/ Specialist represent country category needs to the relevant Global Category Leads/Managers
• Accountable for establishing annual regional financial targets, and delivering on these financial targets where applicable
• Accountable for the overall delivery of the country’s savings targets for the Divisions following the target setting process
• Accountable for ensuring the cross-divisional performance management process is applied for Country Sourcing Manager and all steps are agreed with the Head of Global Sourcing and Country CFO
• Accountable for the overall delivery of the EMEA region KPI and Balanced Scorecard targets
• Accountable for ensuring input to, and translation of output from, Global Category Strategies
• Responsible for ensuring Global Category Strategies are aligned with country objectives and vice versa
• Accountable for the development of cohesive Annual Regional Plans that align with the Global Category Strategies
• Accountable for successful project mobilization and execution at a country level
• Accountable for ensuring appropriate input from and communication with the relevant Business Partners during project mobilization and execution
• Accountable for the implementation of consistent KPIs
• Accountable for developing quality processes to allow for efficient EMEA HUB service delivery that meets or exceeds business partner requirements
• Accountable for development, implementation and communication of the final EMEA Region Strategy to staff and relevant business partners
• Accountable for execution and application of vendor management in the EMEA region, aligned to the Vendor Relationship and Management Framework
• Accountable for ensuring the resources, information and tools are in place for project execution throughout the EMEA Region, providing project management and implementation support where required
• Accountable for ensuring robust contractual arrangements are in place for the EMEA region
• Responsible for ensuring regional issues are addressed and resolved on a timely manner
• Manage supply disruptions and business continuity at the highest local level serving as a point of escalation
• Ensure monthly financial / performance reports are submitted in a timely and accurate manner
• Accountable for ensuring a robust governance process is in the place (Governance Board) and is routinely called to review progression, make decisions and resolve any escalated risks or issues
• Accountable for developing the EMEA HUB network. Leverage Global Sourcing Networks and ensuring contribution of direct reports in relevant local networks
• Manages direct sourcing functional repots and ensuring that the Swiss Re Human Resources procedures and practices are applied consistently including (but not limited to):
Performance Management, Development Planning, Recruitment, Code of Ethics,
Diversity & Inclusion, Compensation & Benefits
• Proactively seeks opportunities to promote success of the team and individual associates during the Talent Review process at a local and global level
• Responsible for supporting career and skill development of all functional reports
• Accountable for involvement in continual improvement in the EMEA HUB team – active part in CI initiatives, engage team members in CI improvements

Personality requirements and skills

Bachelor’s degree required at a minimum; in fields such as business administration, finance, law or a scientific or technical field. Strong preference for CIPS or similar professional qualification

Ideally, the Candidate will have ten plus (10+) years of Sourcing/Procurement experience in the insurance, re-insurance or financial services industry. Candidate will demonstrate proficiency in executing on pragmatic solutions in collaboration with the business to advance business priorities. Candidate will be required to communicate effectively with Business partners and external suppliers. Candidate shall demonstrate behaviours consistent with Swiss Re's leadership imperatives with a focus on driving sustainable performance and continuous improvement
