Information about the position
Job description, responsibilities and duties
We are seeking a database developer who will extend the Development Centre within the Risk Management IT unit. Our team is responsible for design, development and support for projects and existing solutions in close cooperation with associated business analysts and software engineers.
Extend the team and provide database and interface development for IT systems within Risk Management.
Your tasks will include:
- Perform technical analysis , system design, implementation, unit/system testing of the database changes or interfaces according to business needs
- Provide optimal design solutions to improve system quality and efficiency
- Understand business requirements and accordingly develop database models
- Maintain technical documentations for reference purposes
- Follow Swiss Re's best practices for database deployments, etc..
- Improve data flows and enhance the automation of interfaces
- Improve data quality, enhance data validation and perform reconciliations
- Support of internal clients
- Collaborate with other teams in defining functionality, scope and time lines
- Key skills include the ability to bring ideas from concept to reality and being able to communicate effectively to all stakeholders.

- Any other ad hoc tasks as required from time to time

Personality requirements and skills
- Master's degree level or equivalent in computer science or related field.
- Strong SQL and PL/SQL development skills (Oracle 11g) - minimum 2 years of experience
- Strong knowledge of database tools (i.e, TOAD, SQLPlus, PL/SQL Developer, SQL Developer) is a plus
- Experience with ETL tools (Informatica Powercenter) is an advantage
- Data modelling skills (PowerDesigner)
- Datawarehouse experience is a plus
- Experience in testing (and / or quality assurance)
- Ability to understand complex information models and IT solutions
