Job description, responsibilities and duties

We are looking for a Senior Finance Manager with proven leadership skills to strengthen and lead our Bratislava operation. You will have the opportunity to lead a team of experienced accounting professionals and further grow the team in line with our business strategy.

The role oversees the delivery of accounting activities within Finance and from its service providers, monitors execution of financial controls and ensures compliance with local and group accounting and reporting requirements.

Core responsibilities include:
- Accounting for assigned entities in the area of Non-Technical Accounting (Financial Accounting excluding Reinsurance and Investments)
- Contact for internal and external auditors
- Contribution to strategic projects
- Personnel and team development

Besides the overall responsibility for the accounting and reporting of non-reinsurance activities, the Head Non-Technical Accounting is also expected to closely coordinate and initiate process and quality improvements in close collaboration with Finance teams in Europe and Asia as well as locally on-site.
The position acts with a high degree of autonomy & discretion within the delegated authority.

Main tasks/ Activities:
- Develop and manage teams of Non-Technical Accounting experts
- Responsible for the implementation of accounting, closing and reporting activities in line with the global framework for Non-Technical Accounting, Intercompany re-charging per SLA
- Responsible for the accounting of fixed assets, accruals and other Non-Technical Accounting relevant topics
- Ensure mitigation of financial reporting risks, through Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Substantiation and other measures in line with the internal control framework
- Manage relationship with internal and external auditors to conduct, review and respond to audit activities
- Operational compliance with local and group policies and internal control framework

Stakeholders and Customers:
Communicates effectively with stakeholders and customers to ensure common goals and expectations. The main stakeholders are the Legal Entity Finance teams in Europe and Asia, Finance Global Shared Service Center, Internal and External Audit, Cost Controlling, Standards and Governance teams, Branch Managers and local Management.

Personality requirements and skills

- Accounting / Audit qualification and strong knowledge of international accounting standards i.e. US Gaap, IFRS is a plus
- 10+ years of professional experience in Accounting or Audit ideally in Insurance or Financial Service Industry
- Proven leadership skills in an international and fast growing environment
- Sound knowledge of the main business activities, financial systems, legal and regulatory environment and quality assurance
- Analytical skills with the ability to deliver quality output on short deadlines
- Strong customer focus and proven relationship and team builder – ability to influence in a complex, cross-functional and multi-location environment
- Self-motivated and committed to deliver in a target-oriented environment
- Fluent in English, any other European language is a plus
