Java Application Engineer

In a team of business analysts and application engineers you will be responsible for the software development aspects in a reinsurance application project. The project will include the implementation of challenging business functions both on the server and on the client-side. The main server-side functions are implemented as batch functions. You will be involved in all steps of the project. Learning opportunities will be provided working, both supervised and unsupervised, in a collaborative team environment.
On this position you will be responsible for:
- Work on technical concept and design of the solution in a close cooperation with other IT team members and under supervision of the IT project leader
- Discussion, iteration and agreement of the concept and design with the Business Analysis and the project leader
- Taking an active role in the implementation phase in collaboration with internal and external partners
- Documentation of the technical solution, the data model and the implementation
- Contribution to the respective change management process
- Open and active cooperation with the project leader and other team members in various locations
- In the middle term, taking over and managing subprojects for their whole lifecycle
- Support production processes (monitoring, issue resolution)
- Provide stand-by duties when required
