Senior Accounting Analyst
| Job description |
| Job role consists mainly of control over balances of assigned general ledger accounts, ensuring that transactions booked to these accounts either by various systems (more than 90% of all accounting entries flows automatically via systems) or manually by accountants are correct and in line with US GAAP and IBM guidance. Job also includes advising to counterparts on accounting requirements for different types of activity in order to ensure accuracy of financial results. Job is done in monthly cycles – starting by monthly closing where accounting analyst has to ensure manual booking of all transactions that were either not processed by systems on time or that cannot flow via systems due to complex calculation or judgement needed behind. After books are closed for given month, accounting analyst works on different types of reports and analyses – mostly analyzing and explaining trends of accounting balances. During the month, accounting analyst focuses on detailed analysis of prior month closing balances on assigned accounts, validating balances by comparing them to documentation, system reports or calculations. Any discrepancy identified is then analysed, corrected or addressed for resolution to proper contact. Accounting analyst supports internal customers – accounting activities are done for IBM entities within Europe, Middle East and Africa region. Job includes daily communication with various counterparts from these regions or US headquarters – such as Finance and Planning, Customer Fulfilment, other accounting departments and owners of various systems feeding accounting ledger.
