Job description, responsibilities and duties

This is a unique opportunity for you to solve business challenges by applying variety of analytic techniques to complex data sets. How? By joining our Data & Analytics team supporting Zurich North America business as our new Data Scientist. 

As a Data Scientist, your main tasks will involve:  
  • Understand business problems and structure analytical approaches to solve them
  • Prepare data sets (internal and external, structured as well as unstructured) needed to test hypotheses and build models
  • Generate distinctive risk insights that deliver improved business results
  • Build models and other analytical solutions using NLP, image recognition, GLMs, decision trees, clustering, etc. and implement them 
  • Monitor performance of models in production and help assess their business impact by building monitoring apps

As a Data Scientist, your skills and experience will ideally include:  
  • University education (Master's degree)
  • 1+ years of experience in Data Science or similar area
  • Experience with programming and data tools such as R, Python or SQL
  • Experience preparing data and/or developing insights for use in business decisions
  • Passion for data
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially the ability to translate technical results for business audiences
  • Strong problem-solving skills and passion for data
  • English – B2 or better
