Job description, responsibilities and duties

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for the reconciliation and settlement process between cedents (fronting company) and reinsurers (Producing Company). In order to be successful at this role solid relationships with cedents and reinsurers have to be build.
 
The role shares a responsibility with the Hub Manager and the Team Leaders (Operations and Customer Service) to drive through the selected fronting partners in the countries of the hub territory all aspects of high level and professional service delivery according to the defined Zurich performance criteria.
 
The Accounting Specialist functions as link between the Producing Country and the local fronting company in the areas of cash-flow management, reinsurance accounting and back office support.
 
The role ensures that reinsurance transactions are executed according to the Producing Countries’ requirements and according to the Zurich performance standards, Operating Directives as well as Hub and Clearing House specific processes.
 
KEY TASKS
- Drive reconciliation and settlement process between Reinsurer and cedent, and liaise closely with other Zurich reinsuring entities.
- Timely delivers correct accounting data for Reinsurance Handles technical accounting for International Programs
- Handles mismatches with between cedents and Reinsurers (intercompany as well as externally)
- Issues payment orders Clears open items with cash
- Act as human interface between PC’s and Partners Guide partners on premium/invoicing related issues
- Support Partners regarding premium collection
- Ensure high quality of information to all parties concerned and liaise closely with IP Operations and Network Management
- Deliver according to Operating Directives (OD) and Hub guidelines and processes
- Work according to the agreed Hub and Clearing House processes
- Support Partner Relationship Management by maintaining close day to day contact with peers at the partner offices
- Develop and maintain knowledge and expertise about the countries (i.e. the insurance markets) within the Hub territory

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

University education (Master's degree)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2) or French - Advanced (C1)

Personality requirements and skills

-  Good accounting knowledge in respect of Sub-Ledger (SAP FSCD) and General-Ledger (SAP)
- Knowledge and adherence to accounting concepts - Strong MS Excel knowledge
- Very good communication, organisational and analytical skills
