Machinery Operations Manager with LEAN Experience

Main objectives and results of this function:

• Responsible for effective and successful management and coordination of overall machinery production activities, including management of labor, productivity, quality control and safety measures as established for the Machinery Production Department.
• Develops the machinery production by active and gradual implementation of lean manufacturing methods, i.e. makes recommendations to improve productivity, quality, profitability and the efficiency of machinery operations. This includes training associates on LEAN tools, planning and facilitating Kaizen events, monitoring performance versus improvement targets, sustaining changes made during events and execution of continuous improvement projects.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Oversees a workforce in the machinery production department. Closely monitors production to identify issues and resolve them promptly in order to secure on-time delivery.
• Determines amount of necessary resources (workforce, raw materials etc.). Evaluates the machine resources to ensure productivity and minimal downtime.
• Strives to reduce expenses and increase productivity across all product lines, i.e. designs and optimizes manufacturing processes for the improvement of existing products and the introduction of new ones; investigates and recommends technology and/or process chnages to facilitate cost savings and continuous capacity improvement.
• Facilitates continuous improvement activities through regular Kaizen events that would contribute to the improvement of the key business metrics such as OTD, productivity, EBITDA, scrap rate, accident rate or inventory turns.
• Promotes LEAN culture throughout the machinery plant and contributes to adoption of the LEAN philosophy (5S, VSM, regular GEMBA walks etc.) in the whole company (promoting, encouraging and demanding the LEAN principles).
• Cooperates with HR department in the recruitment process, performance evaluation, promotion, retention and termination activities, as well as identification of the training needs.
• Ensures all employees follow industry standard health and safety guidelines. At the same time secures that employees stick to the workflow policies and technology procedures to ensure that final products meet quality standards and customer specifications.
• Provides motivation, support and guidance to the machinery production team.

Qualifications and experiences:

• Minimum Bachelor´s degree in the field of Production Management, i.e. Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Management, Machine & Equipment Construction, Production Technology, Process Engineering etc.
• 5+ years’ experience in leading manufacturing operations.
• 3+ years’ of lean experience in manufacturing sphere.
• Certification in Lean Sigma / Six Sigma / Green Belt / Black Belt.

Required skills and competencies:

• Czech / Slovak native speaker with good command of English.
• Deep knowledge of production management.
• Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations.
• Proficient in the use of MS Office; experience with enterprise ERP system SAP strongly preferred.
• Strong decision-making skills, excellent leadership, organizational and communication skills both on shop-floor and in the office.
• Demonstrates initiative and desire to drive change and is motivated to exceed expectations.
• Exhibits proficiency in a wide range of process improvement tools for the identification and elimination of waste which include: problem solving / root cause analysis, instituting pull systems, TPM, 5S, visual management, SMED, VSM, standard work etc.
• Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business circumstances - ability to thrive in a constantly changing business environment.
