Senior Database Engineer

Key responsibilities 

• Administer and fine-tune MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MS SQL Server databases 

• Troubleshoot and optimize complex SQL queries across multiple dialects 

• Design scalable, high-availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) architectures 

• Resolve performance bottlenecks in large-scale environments 

• Manage user roles, backups, restorations, and version upgrades 

• Implement database changes with minimal business disruption 

• Collaborate on projects, translating business needs into technical solutions 

• Maintain documentation and build knowledge repositories 

• Evaluate new database technologies and licensing options 

• Participate in on-call rotations and incident response 

  
  

Key requirements 

Outline the essential competencies and characteristics that candidates must demonstrate to contribute to our diverse, inclusive culture and succeed in the role. These may include: 

• 5–8 years of hands-on experience in database administration 

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills 

• Proven ability to lead projects independently and drive results 

• Experience with cloud-based database platforms 

• Background in IT infrastructure is a plus 

• Certifications in MySQL or PostgreSQL are a bonus 

  
  

Education/ Qualifications 

· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT preferred
