Náplň práce

Disaster management strategy and procedures
  • Lead the assessment of the Disaster Management capacity and preparedness of the Slovak Red Cross headquarters and regional branches
  • Draft and regularly update the Strategic Plan for Disaster Management
  • Prepare standard procedures for responding to emergency situations, including population movement and climate disasters
  • Lead contingency planning for Slovak Red Cross
  • Undertake risk assessment of frequent disasters
  • Monitor hazard alerts through existing resources
  • Promote disaster preparedness and contingency planning as a long-term strategic priority for Slovak Red Cross

Coordination and partnerships
  • Chair the internal Working Group on Disaster Management and preparedness
  • Organize and chair pre-disaster coordination meetings
  • Support branches with participation in local crisis management boards and relevant coordination forums. Track the outcomes and inform all relevant HQ departments.
  • Plan the hospodarska mobilizacia (economic mobilization)
  • Represent Slovak Red Cross in the national Disaster Risk Management Board
  • Participate in strategic partnership meetings with key stakeholders, including Ministries and the Crises Management board
  • Coordinate Disaster Management activities with other counterparts within the Red Cross / Red Crescent Movement and with other actors in Europe
  • Engage with the resource mobilization department for mobilizing resources for preparedness and response

Capacity-building of staff and volunteers
  • Develop disaster response training modules
  • Prepare, plan and facilitate disaster response trainings, refreshers and simulation exercises
  • Build the capacity of staff and volunteers in responding to disasters
  • Prepare and maintain the database of all volunteers and staff that received the induction training on disaster response, and all the other relevant trainings
  • Promote a better understanding of multi-hazard approaches including integration of gender, climate change and community engagement approaches

Monitoring & reporting
  • Ensure that all projects are effectively managed, monitored, reported and evaluated
  • Provide timely and accurate financial and narrative reports in collaboration with the regional branches
  • Report to relevant governmental agencies and partners on disaster management activities
  • Submit quarterly reports to the leadership of Slovak Red Cross on achievements and outcomes according to the strategic plan for Disaster Management

Logistics
  • Oversee all international deliveries and imports, related paperwork and distribution plans to the branches and consecutive distribution to recipients
  • Maintain the overview of Slovak Red Cross stocks at warehouses and regional branches
  • Maintain the overview of all disaster response equipment in possession of regional branches
  • Ensure that goods are distributed in a professional manner
  • Ensure that all logistics paperwork is properly completed and retained
  • Ensure that all vehicles, generators, tent and other equipment for disaster response are in good condition and used properly
  • Create and plan logistical support for distribution of material aid in case of disasters

Požadujeme

Knowledge and education
  • Bachelor degree in Emergency Management or related field
  • Related experience in a relevant discipline

Experience
  • Project management- planning, monitoring, evaluation and learning
  • Experience of working within a humanitarian or social support environment
  • Red Cross experience an advantage

Skills
  • Excellent report-writing skills
  • Ability to support data collection and information management
  • Office/project skills including planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting
  • Ability to work in a volunteer and beneficiary-oriented environment

Competencies
  • Flexible and organized
  • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Good knowledge of English

  • Salary: 1600 - 1700 € gross / monthly
