Job description, responsibilities and duties

Job Overview

You will be responsible for the support and operation of the tools, process and people supporting the creation and deployment of operating systems for workstations, software distribution and global system / application patching. This is a technical managerial role requiring team building, executing to policy, establishing and running processes, that requires a strong technical background and the ability to be “hands on”.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinates and implements endpoint management, patching and application deployment operations and activities to ensure protection of information assets while ensuring optimal use of personnel and equipment.
• Participates with other IT infrastructure department leaders in helping form strategic direction of travel, makes final decisions on administrative/operational matters for the function and ensures effective achievement of objectives
• Overall control of planning, staffing, and recommending and implementing changes to methods within role scope
• Leveraging third party vendors where necessary to ensure best practice supporting architecture is deployed
• Maintenance of workstation endpoint build standard and associated golden image
• Distribution of the base image and ensuring that desktop teams are all following the same standards and method for delivery
• Software distribution - Tools, people and process supporting application deployment function
• Supporting Information Security and risk functions providing underlying data and metrics for regular compliance reporting.
• Providing support to Risk and Audit. Ensuring systems architecture and supporting processes implemented within area of responsibility are documented to a sufficient standard to provide evidence for audit purposes

Personality requirements and skills

Experience

• 3+ years related experience in a global enterprise environment
• 3+ years of server operations experience
• 3+ years BigFix experience
• Perform troubleshooting of failed patch installations, up to and including escalating to and working with the vendor to resolve the issue
• Create scheduled activities in Web Reports to send out preconfigured reports to sets of concerned users
• Be a strategic member of a technical organisation
• Install, configure, troubleshoot, patch, and manage Bigfix on Windows
• Experience with patching Unix / Linux with Bigfix a plus
• Hands on experience with troubleshooting Bigfix client and relay communication issues in a large multisite deployment needed
• Provide escalation support for technical support and assistance to junior administrators
• Develops and implements testing strategies and document results
• Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems
• Participates in special projects as required
• Able to assess and solve issues in a high-pressure environment
• Able to work effectively with other groups and teams
• Working BigFix deployment experience
• Exceptional problem-solving skills
