Automotive Launch Engineer

Job description, responsibilities and duties

The Accessory Launch Lead Engineer is accountable for the successful launch and stabilisation of customer plant line‑fit accessories, operating on‑site at the customer Nitra Manufacturing Plant to support all build phases through Job #1 and up to +90 days post‑launch.

The role focuses on ensuring line‑fit accessory readiness, manufacturability, quality, and supply robustness, providing direct engineering support to the plant and acting as the single point of accountability for line‑fit accessory issues during the launch window.

Launch & Plant Line‑Fit Accountability

Own launch delivery for plant line‑fit accessories only, ensuring:

  • Build compatibility and fitment robustness
  • Manufacturing readiness and repeatability
  • Alignment to vehicle and plant processes

Operate on‑site at Nitra to support:

  • Pre‑production, pilot, and launch builds
  • Job #1 through Job #1 +90 days stabilisation period
  • Act as the on‑site engineering authority for line‑fit accessories, enabling rapid decision‑making and issue resolution to protect build continuity and launch timing

Issue, Alert & Release Management (Line‑Fit Focus)

Lead line‑fit accessory issues through AIMS, driving closure in line with launch milestones

Manage line‑fit accessories supplied under ALERT, ensuring:

  • Controlled supply to the plant
  • Clear exit strategies aligned with manufacturing readiness

Own official releases of line‑fit accessory changes via WERS Release, ensuring:

  • Alignment across UK and China engineering teams
  • Correct implementation timing at plant level

Cross‑Functional & Regional Interface (Re‑emphasised)

Interface directly with:

  • Nitra Manufacturing, Launch, and Quality teams
  • UK and China engineering teams for all line‑fit accessory content

Ensure a single, aligned view of line‑fit accessory maturity, risks, and change implementation across regions and the plant

Minimum education require

  • Follow-up/Higher Professional Education

Personality requirements and skills

  • Previous experience working in an automotive manufacturing plant
  • Previous experience working in the role of Launch Engineer
