Job description, responsibilities and duties

For our client, we are looking for a Senior General Ledger Accountant. You will join our General Ledger team and primarily focus on closing-related activities encompassing HR accounting, revenue, and intercompany accounting. Expect engaging challenges including:

Preparation for closing, accrual processes, and intercompany tasks
Reconciliation of balance sheets and profit and loss accounts
Recording HR accounting topics and other provisions in the system
Ensuring compliance with company guidelines while posting late entries
Generating statements of equity and reports on provision changes
Conducting controls for internal control systems to ensure compliance and accuracy
Assisting auditors with inquiries
Daily interaction with internal stakeholders

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

Secondary with school-leaving examination
University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Language skills

Croatian - Upper intermediate (B2) and Serbian - Upper intermediate (B2) and English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

Educational background suitable for the position, preferably with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related fields
Language proficiency: Upper intermediate (B2) level in Croatian or Serbian, and English
Experience in general ledger accounting or several years of experience in AP/AR
Knowledge of local GAAP and IFRS is advantageous
Proficiency in accounting software (preferably SAP) and MS Excel
Detail-oriented and self-organized with strong problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills and a customer-friendly approach
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Enthusiasm for an international work setting and occasional travel within Europe
