Job description, responsibilities and duties

The investment team oversee $3bn+ investment portfolio, Whilst the day-to-day portfolio management is outsourced to a number of external investment managers, the investment team are responsible for managing the overall investment strategy, asset allocation and manager selection, alongside portfolio execution, balance sheet management and investment reporting. Working with the clients company outsourced provider to support a team of experienced investment professionals, the role covers a range of investment operations tasks with a focus on process improvement and provides the opportunity to interact with a range of stakeholders, both internal to the clients company and external.


Your Responsibilities:

Investment Operations
• Leading month-end controls and investment reconciliations
• Conducting ad-hoc reconciliations related to investment activity e.g. post security transfers
• Updating and maintaining the Investment Operations Manual and ensuring key controls are documented
• Leading the review of third-party service providers operational controls reports and addressing any failures
• Coordinating the setup of new accounts in the investment accounting system
• Liaising with third party investment managers to resolve issues such as price discrepancies

Investment Accounting and Reporting
• Acting as a key liaison to the investment reporting and accounting provider and the wider finance accounting team
• Resolving queries related to investment accounting/reporting including data quality and regulatory reporting issues
• Uploading NAV’s related to third-party funds into the investment accounting system
• Ensuring portfolio benchmarks are appropriately reflected in the investment accounting system

Compliance
• Monitoring of internal and external portfolio guidelines against compliance limits and seeking appropriate resolution to limit breaches
• Coordinating compliance rule updates in the investment accounting and reporting system and coordinating the setup of rules for new accounts

Custody and trade support
• Acting as the primary contact for all custody bank related queries
• Lead the set-up of new custody accounts
• Inputting transactions into the custody platform and monitoring trade settlement
• Running a variety of custody related reports to support various key controls

Investments
• Support the investment team with investment reporting activities
• Support investment decisions by developing and enhancing market dashboards and other tools/metrics
• Participate in ad-hoc projects and initiatives across the investment team
• Support the operational review process for onboarding new investment managers
• Coordinating new product approval reviews
• Involvement in the allocations of derivatives allocations across legal entity balance sheets


Experience Required:

3-5 years postgraduate experience in an investment operations role


Essential Skills:

• Good knowledge of the front to back trade settlement process and custodian activities
• Strong quantitative skills with practical application
• An ability to manage multiple tasks with a keen attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills, both orally and written
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders


Desired skills:

• A working knowledge of different asset types and the key features of these with respect to investment operations
• An understanding of investment accounting would be considered a positive
