Job description, responsibilities and duties

Swiss Re Asset Management manages the assets generated through the core insurance and reinsurance business. Asset Management IT is part of Asset Management and ensures stable investment platforms and trade lifecycle management while delivering meaningful, timely financial data, enabling our customers to support AM's overall business performance. It also expands business processes automation and efficiency across the value chain through workflow solutions and robotics development.

About the role:

As Data Engineer in COOBS, you would work on functional and technology initiatives using innovative data, cloud and integration technologies. Data Engineer develops end to end applications, dealing with database, client side and server-side components, and basic UI and integration of applications. Data Engineer solves technical problems of various levels of complexity. We take ownership of code and ship features, bug fixes, and improvements with support from other team members when needed. We work with customers and other colleagues needed to deliver a product.

This position demands an ability to identify a problem, prioritize, and communicate proactively. The ideal candidate will have experience working backwards from the product design to understand the true requirements underlying feature requests. - 2+ years of work experience in an agile digital product development environment
- Proficiency in multiple databases (Oracle DB, PostgreSQL) and understanding of traditional SQL
- Proficiency in Python
- Experience in business intelligence platforms (Power BI, Tableau)
- Experience working closely with IT and business teams

Helpful Additional Skills

- Understanding of financial product data models (transactions, positions, security master)
- Hands on experience in building applications for cloud platforms, Azure preferred and Azure DevOps
- Experience working with varied forms of data infrastructure inclusive of non-relational (Hadoop HDFS, Mongo DB)
- Knowledge of Java
