About the Role


This position is ideal for a full-stack actuarial developer – an individual with a strong leadership, technical and actuarial background.

This individual will be tasked with developing, maintaining, and supporting the production of actuarial models, supporting the development of data infrastructure, aligned with our data strategy. Furthermore, you will build and deploy actuarial analytics and applications at a global scale.

This role can be filled either at the Assistant Vice President or Vice President level, based on candidate's demonstrated leadership and strategic skills/background.

Vice President: Thinks strategically: designing, planning, and recalibrating projects to align with organizational objectives and optimal outcomes.
Educating stakeholders in areas of technical expertise. Drive innovative and radical change.
Assistant Vice President: Understand and execute on strategic direction.
Prioritize tasks requiring immediate attention and of greatest impact. Proactively identifying areas of improvement, taking initiative to drive positive change.




Primary Responsibilities


While it is not essential that the candidate have full working knowledge of these functions, the candidate should aspire to delivering on these items over time, in collaboration with their direct manager and colleagues:

Data Infrastructure: Analytical Toolkits by Portfolio
Participate in cross-functional discussions at the portfolio level to understand key-stakeholder data needs and contributions.
Lead the design of optimal data structures by portfolio, to accommodate the needs of the Actuarial and Portfolio steering teams.
Oversee the engineering efforts as it relates to feeding back information to the optimal data structures.
Ensure the appropriate application of ADM extensions and integration of Actuarial tools and methods. Ownership of ADM APM extension data.
Data Governance; Support the CorSo data governance initiatives around data ownership, quality and compliance.

Actuarial Analytics: Plug and Play Actuarial Tools
Support the regression testing, production, and maintenance, of plug and play actuarial tools, ensuring coding best practice and application of Git principles.
Ensure independent consumption from and feedback to analytical toolkits.
Capture and manage toolkit throughput and data in Stargate.
Support the development of applications to interface with the Actuaries.
Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and other development activities to support high-quality solutions aligned with the needs of the actuaries and other stakeholders.

Actuarial Models: Developing, Productionizing and Maintaining
Supporting the development, regression testing, production, and maintenance, of R models; ensuring coding best practice and application of Git principles.
Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and other development activities to support high-quality solutions aligned with the needs of key stakeholders.
Support the CICD, and Agile efforts via JIRA.
Model Governance; Document code, model design, and testing procedures for future reference.
Collaboration with CorSo Information Technology on DevSecOps

Personality requirements and skills

You are an aspirational person who is interested in learning and developing related skills. In addition, you have the following:


5 years of experience in either: actuarial modeling, data engineering, data science or software related environments.

College degree is mandatory, higher degree preferred.

Strong working knowledge of Actuarial modeling and methods, or Data Science experience preferred.

Strong programming skill in one or more of Hadoop, Spark, Java, C, C++, Python or R.

Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, Palantir, Google Snowflake, or GCP.

Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Dynamic and entrepreneurial thinker, with attention to detail and willingness to take on a variety of projects and develop solutions.

Property & Casualty experience and Membership in an Actuarial Society or Actuarial background is a nice to have.
