About the Role

Your activities range from evaluating & designing reinsurance programs to developing tailored business solutions with our clients in collaboration with our global network of experts.

You will help us to maintain a balanced portfolio which we intend to develop in the future with your help. You will work in a variety of markets.

Our underwriters play a meaningful role in meetings and negotiations with clients/brokers. Not only will you build external relationships but also coordinate exchanges to develop business together and to transfer knowledge.

Do you want to nurture other business opportunities together with the client managers - and convert those opportunities into deals that benefit both us and our clients? As a member of the EMEA Property UW Community, you will initiate discussions with clients to identify their motivation, needs and priorities. You will support the development of innovative reinsurance solutions, using the full range of our capabilities.

Please note, relocation to Munich is required!

About the Team

Who are we? Our desk is based in Munich and consists of a young but experienced treaty underwriting team. The Swiss Re Munich treaty underwriting team focusses on property insurance with a north, central (incl. Germany, Austria and Switzerland) and east European scope, serving a client base ranging from small to large insurance companies. Besides our underwriting tasks, we are providing tailored services to our clients, and share our know-how with them. We seek to help our clients grow and to thrive, by closing the protection gap as well as in helping our clients with their capital management.

Deals we write in our desk range from country-specific treaties to cross-regional solutions with a broad coverage. As a result, you will collaborate with other lines of business, facultative underwriting, offices abroad and structured reinsurance experts.

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

• You have a handful of years of work experience in a quantitative field (ideally underwriting) and have demonstrated strong project management skills in various business settings.
• University degree (Bachelor or Master) preferably with a quantitative, scientific or economic focus or alternatively an insurance education background (ie. apprenticeship)
• You believe that learning should never stop and appreciate development and change as meaningful ingredients to your work.
• You have demonstrated analytical skills and are a pragmatic problem solver, also under time constraints and changing boundary conditions.
• It is vital that you have an intrinsic motivation and like to take ownership: Our line manager will empower you and do not intend to micromanage.
• You are creative, and a good communicator, and you thrive in collaborations with colleagues and clients.
• You are a digital native and love to explore new technology.
• Full working proficiency in English; German (or other language) is a plus
