About the team and the role

We want to bring our reporting and data management to a new level and are looking for curious talents who want to be part of the journey. We are starting a new team that will take over the existing reports and radically automate and improve the data flow. As a next step this team will be responsible for data management and insights generation, developing from reporting to data engineering and analytics.

We are seeking talents with a passion for technology who are interested in developing into data engineers with a focus on their clients. You will closely collaborate with colleagues from Swiss Re's largest data science team to give you the support to grow in the analytical areas and get an easy introduction into our environment. Your focus will be on automating processes and data pipelines. Minimizing manual tasks and report generation to allow the team to focus on more challenging topics in data engineering and insights generation/analytics.

In your daily work, you work with colleagues on automating processes and build new solutions. In the beginning you will help them to get better insights and make full use of their data. Once the basic needs are covered and automated, you and the team will integrate additional data sources and actively discuss new data insights services that support your clients with insights going beyond standard reports.

Responsibilities & Key Tasks

- Building data pipelines for extraction, preparation, and transformation, analytics and insights generation
- First visual analysis in dashboards (e.g., PowerBI)
- Partnering with business teams to understand the problems and designing scalable solutions to improve business outcomes
- Actively propose insights and solutions that involve statistics and machine learning models

Personality requirements and skills

Technical Requirements

- Analytical problem-solving skills and ability to assimilate complex information. Interest in learning new techniques and personal improvement.
- Practical experience in Python, SQL, PowerBI
- Knowledge of the software engineering process (e.g. development in teams, code versioning)
- English language skills


Advantageous Additional Skills (not expected but nice to have)

- Knowledge about building and deploying innovative solutions involving machine learning
- Experience in distributed computing (e.g. Spark) and NOSQL
