Job description, responsibilities and duties
Our team is responsible for managing the day-to-day application support and IT operations for the domain landscape. We ensure successful & timely implementation of operational processes, ad-hoc production problem resolution, management of business systems and providing support to other regional application management staff.
About the Role
Application Support Engineer is responsible for high availability and performance of the supported applications. In this role you will be involved in day-to-day service operations across Incident and Problem Management, Application monitoring & maintenance, Runbook documentations and timely System status communication to the Business.
Your responsibilities include:
- Provide Level 2 and Level 3 Production and Non-Production Support for application issues.
- Analyze logs, traffic flow and configuration data on periodic basis to detect and address any anomalies
- Identify, categorize, and respond to system and applications events
- Liaise with developers to implement best practices / standards
- Develop scripts for automation and monitoring
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide hands-on support during emergencies or outages

Technical Skills
- Proven years of Experience in software engineering with solid application development and support understanding.
- Proficient in either Java or .Net core with strong database programming SQL and PLSQL skills on Oracle and MSSQL
- Experience on databases, data warehousing and data analytics ecosystem & tools (Data factory / data lake / ETL tools, Synapse etc.)
- Proficient in monitoring, alerting and logging tools.
- Job scheduling and management on any batch management platform.
- A good understanding on SDLC process, Agile methodology
- Expertise in System integration in a complex enterprise setting
- Log analysis techniques. Solid grasp on Elastic stack is a plus.
- Experience in using public cloud offerings, preferable on Microsoft Azure (compute / containerization / storage / databases). Any other Public cloud expertise is also considered.
Soft Skills
- Experience in working with a diverse team of both internal and external professionals with good interpersonal skills.
- Dedication to provide support timely, efficiently and professionally
- Innovation with quick work around solutions, while also working on developing optimized permanent solutions
- An understanding of insurance/reinsurance business is always a plus
