Your role as Disaster Recovery Engineer will support the ITSCM squad to shape our group wide DRM program establishing best practice DR measures. You will be central to the core decisions in developing and applying DR testing concepts and roadmaps. This will include group-wide collaboration with tech domain teams in order to investigate what DR capabilities are available, and how it can be best leveraged.

In your role, you:
• Closely collaborate with Business and Tech Domains to coordinate and ensure adequate DR measures.
• Apply Cloud Engineering and Architecture Insights to Disaster Recovery program and evaluate new technologies supporting DR measures in scaled and automated environments.
• Analyse, evaluate, and determine arising InfoTech trends and needs for ITSCM and DR capabilities
• Develop and design testing concepts to cater for DR technology and responsibility shifts (continuous testing, synthetic user transactions, SaaS, Infrastructure as Code).
• Foster E2E IT Value Chain understanding on DR Capability in IT Solution architecture in a multi-vendor and multi-cloud environment.
• Establish Dependency View for ITSCM Relevancy and evaluate IT Systems for recovery prioritization and phases.
• Consult with IT Owners on compliant service designs, adhering to DR requirements
• Act as technical advisor to support our customers in the functional search for new ideas and solutions and support the product owner as interface to our technical teams.

About the Team

In Cognitive Service Management, we are bringing together insights from multiple sources to centralize and automate our resiliency capabilities as well as driving service governance and optimize service operation processes. The Squad for IT Service Continuity Management (ITSCM) is a growing multi-national team, spread currently over Slovakia, Switzerland, and India.

We develop and maintain capabilities to mitigate the risk of unavailability and to restore critical IT Services in the event of a major disruption, enabling a prioritized recovery with minimal impact to Swiss Re's business processes.

We want to achieve this mission by:
• Maintaining an effective ITSCM framework providing group-wide direction, implementation oversight and advice, supporting BCM, safeguarding mission critical services.
• Partnering up in trusted relationships with Group and Business Domain teams, presenting a central entry point for ITSCM guidance.
• Implementing sustainable DR oversight, strategies, plans, trainings and tests, whilst ensuring these are successfully embedded and maintained within the organization.

Personality requirements and skills

We are happy to meet you if you possess:

• One to three years' experience in supporting disaster recovery as well as disaster recovery plan testing (emergency response, IT recovery support and business resumption procedures).
• Ability to work in virtual, disparate, cross-functional teams without direct authority
• Technical breadth and depth in IT systems overall (storage, connectivity, middleware, cloud platforms and products).
• Ability to look at problems from multiple perspectives.
• Identify and act on opportunities for continuous improvement and actions that improve enterprise resilience.
• Understanding in the thread-offs of different solutions and standard methodologies with regards to resiliency, reliability, and availability.
• Experience in developing technical requirements for BCP / DR Plans
• Good understanding and applied expertise in DR Testing concepts
• Passion about Agile principles and are excited to embed them into your daily work
• "CAN DO" mentality and willingness to learn new technologies to continuously upskill
• Ability to prioritize and apply sound commercial judgment
• English proficiency is a must
• DR relevant certifications a plus (CBCP, DRCS, BRCCI)
