About the Role

Are you passionate about creating the best user journey with clean and simple user interfaces? Would you like to design innovative, user-friendly and nimble products for one of the world's leading wholesale providers of reinsurance? So keep on reading.

We are looking for a UX designer, responsible for conducting user research, defining the key problems and translating them into prototypes to be tested and iterated upon. You will craft the overall functionality of the product and ensure an outstanding user experience with continuous improvements.

Ultimately, you will make our internal (Reinsurance core business) & external (B2B as well as B2C) products more user-friendly and intuitive to attract and retain users & customers across the globe – and helping them address some of the world's most urgent challenges. The product portfolio of Swiss Re Property & Casualty and Life & Health consists of approx. +150 web and mobile apps supporting all business functions such as Sales, Underwriting and Claims Management. In addition, we are supporting the innovation team in exploring new solutions in the space of Internet of Things (IoT), Telematics, Automotive, Smart Home, Cyber and Advanced Analytics.

In particular, the role will involve the following key tasks:

Facilitate client’s product ideas & visions following design thinking approach, all the way from research, problem definition to interactive prototypes creation and testing with users

Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys, prototypes or any other deliverable that matter, optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces

Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product managers, business specialists and engineers.

Build research-based personas

Identify design problems

Make strategic design and user experience decisions related to existing and new features

Take a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate your designs

Performing user testing with the product in question (e.g. conducting A/B tests to measure customer response, analyzing usage data and traffic patterns)

Enforce to Swiss Re brand style standards on fonts, colors and images keeping a unified identity for the products

Collaborate with other team members and partners

Keep up with new standards and industry best practices to ensure a state-of-the-art user experience

Take smart risks and develop new insights

The job location is Zurich, Switzerland and Bratislava, Slovakia.

In our role as UX center of competence for Swiss Re Reinsurance we are working very closely with product owners, business owners, business specialists, IT leads and software engineers across the globe.

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

Language skills

English - Advanced (C1)

Personality requirements and skills

Minimum three years professional experience as UX or visual designer. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience designing complex B2B or B2C solutions for digital environments.

Bachelor or Master degree in human-centered design, visual design, communications, computer science, psychology, engineering or a related field.

Strong expertise in working with Sigma is a must

Experience with applying Design Thinking methods

Proficient in Google's Material Design Language

Basic HTML5, CSS3. JavaScript skills are a plus

Experience in applying UX design best practices to design intuitive solutions

Desire to work in all aspects of the design process. A solid grasp of user-centered design and testing methodologies, subsystems, and usability and accessibility concerns

Ability to work with clients to understand detailed requirements and design complete user experiences that meet client needs and vision

Ability to iterate your designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently

Ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to teams, partners and clients

Good spoken and written English is a must, German is an advantage

An understanding of reinsurance and/or primary insurance is a plus

Desired Skills

Be passionate about UX, visual design and other areas of design and innovation.

Be excited about collaborating and communicating closely with teams and other stakeholders via a distributed model to regularly deliver design solutions for approval

Ability to work in an interdisciplinary and multi-cultural environment
