Job description, responsibilities and duties

Are you a smart, ambitious and enthusiastic team worker who wants to play a key role in supporting the way how we support the financial quarterly close process? If yes, then join our team and be part of an exciting journey to improve the way how we run our quarter close process.

This opportunity offers you the possibility to develop a wide skillset, both technical and professional as well as learning about actuarial processes in a global setup! In your role you will have the opportunity to work on projects as well as support of production processes.
The work will focus on the design and development of additional functions in our reserving platform which is already part of a global systems platform used by actuaries. You will work in close collaboration with Application Engineers other colleagues and Actuaries. You will be involved in all steps of agile software development and assigned to own user stories which you will manage independently.

On the production side the main tasks will be to provide user support.

You will:
• Contribute in the development maintenance and improvement of the system
• Capture and translate business requirements to developers including testing support
• Respond to, and handle issues in testing and production
• Provide ad-hoc analysis (incl. data mining)
• Help to embed our culture of continuous improvement

About the team

Our team of business analyst together with you is responsible for in-house built applications related to reserving and actuarial quarter close production.
Our main team is in Bratislava and you will also have other colleagues in Switzerland, America and India. Our customer is the global actuarial community within the company.

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Other knowledge

Microsoft Excel - Advanced

Personality requirements and skills

You are an agile and curious analyst, actively seek creative solutions to improve things for us and our business partners. To succeed in this opportunity, you should be results driven, knowing when to seek help.
You have a passion to learn about and understand business logic behind the solutions as well as the technical aspects of the solutions themselves. You like to question and challenge the status quo and you are comfortable in an agile setup.
You have good communication skills and are fluent in English.

You have graduated with a Bachelors or a Master's degree in computer science, or in Business Administration or Economics with good mathematical understanding, or Mathematics with good business understanding

Finally, you should possess a range of skills and the dedication to expand them.
The other important skills include (but are not limited to):
• Knowledge in MS Excel as analytical tool
• Basic knowledge of either SQL, R or Python could be an asset
• Experience with agile software development (Scrum)
• Experience in insurance/reinsurance, actuarial or IT project work is an asset
