Job description, responsibilities and duties

Swiss Re Reinsurance is implementing a new systems and process environment to support the financial closing for the Reinsurance business through the Olympus Programme. The IETV project is driving the development and implementation of the new end-to-end processes and systems for coordinated economic and traditional financial reporting, from source to sub-ledger and general ledger, using the innovative 'baseline delta' approach. The focus for Phase 1 (2016 to 2019) is on co-developing a standard sub-ledger for (Re)-Insurance together with SAP. Phase 2 (2018 to 2025) focuses on implementation and rolling out to the Finance Reinsurance organisation


To facilitate the implementation, an Agile approach is being utilized with multiple sprint teams. The Business Analyst role will be a member of a sprint team with the following responsibilities:
- Perform business analysis of as-is and to-be subledger requirements
- Become proficient in the knowledge of the FPSL subledger functionality and its operation
- Perform business analysis to support the architectural framework around SwissRe's integration of FPSL
- Write technical specifications and support the configuration in FPSL
- Effectively communicate requirements to application developers for integration development
- Execute functional testing of the system to ensure all requirements are implemented accurately
- Perform root cause analysis on identified defects and resolve accordingly
- Support documentation for user training purposes

Key Accountabilities
- Ensure business requirements of the IETV project are met by liaising with users and application developers
- Become trusted expert on FPSL functionality and the technical framework surrounding SwissRe's implementation
- Keep Product Owners advised of progress; escalate any issues
- Liaise with various Olympus teams to deliver all business requirements

Requirements for the employee

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Accounting, Economics or Finance with a background/specialization in IT/Business Analysis in the Accounting/Finance industry
- Minimum of four years equivalent business analysis or requirements engineering experience required
- Strong understanding of finance processes, accounting, ideally in the financial investments industry
- Previous reporting and reconciliation project work
Experience with databases and querying languages
- Experience with SAP BW, S/4HANA preferred
SAP Certifications and/or Data Warehousing designations is a nice to have
- Experience working with agile concepts and methodologies
- Able to prioritize tasks and drive deliverables to completion
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to network and understand the workings of the project
- Java knowledge nice to have
- Microsoft Azure DevOps knowledge nice to have
