Job description, responsibilities and duties

This role is a key position within a newly built team responsible for the developing and supporting a digital platform across iptiQ. It will play an important role in helping to foster a culture of technology excellence, automation, digitisation and better exploitation of data to further enable and accelerate iptiQ's growth ambitions. We are looking for a hands-on DevOps Lead with strong tech experience that can play an important role leading the design and development of platform and related CI/CD pipelines and practices within engineering teams in line with agile working practices, as well as enabling adoption of DevOps culture for iptiQ and its operating entities.

Role Accountabilities

• To support OE's in realizing the benefits of the Platform through effective, agile DevOps and CI/CD practices
• To define, promote and implement technology best practice within the Platform team and promote the same more widely across iptiQ
• To drive a step-change in iptiQ's ability to change at pace through deployment automation, improved delivery frameworks and release management practices that are automated, scalable, flexible and compliant



Key Responsibilities
• To ensure iptiQ's evolving AWS cloud infrastructure delivers maximum business value by designing and implementing improvements to its support for the digital platform and related containerized applications, databases and other services
• To lead and facilitate a DevOps 'Community of Practice', ensuring development and infrastructure backlogs, standards, artefacts and guidelines include DevOps principles, as well as driving ideas and solutions that promote better ways of working
• To participate in architecture decisions and provide design guidance for current and future projects related to our Digital Platform and cloud infrastructure
• Provide internal and external 3rd level support related to infrastructure, Kubernetes, pipeline and monitoring aspects of the Digital Platform
• Become a subject matter expert on various topics, define processes and provide training and documentation for your colleagues
• Cooperate with different teams on IT project delivery by providing guidance, feedback and work on actual implementations of infrastructure and security requirements
• To foster understanding and support for DevOps practices amongst key stakeholders
• To take a keen interest in emerging and new technology and its potential application in iptiQ
• To be aware of and able to innovatively respond to the compliance, risk and regulatory controls

Personality requirements and skills

• University degree (Master's equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics.
Professional Experience
• 5+ years of broad engineering experience, including CI/CD model, DevOps and Agile
• Hands-on working experience of DevOps tools such as GIT, SVN, Maven, Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, Chef, Puppet SonarQube, java, javascript, .NET, data streaming, MQ, SQL, NoSQL, TypeScript, Docker, React, Kafka, Test automation tooling, CI/CD pipeline tools, AWS, Azure and GCP
• Proven hands on experience with managing infrastructure in public cloud environments (Compute, Storage, Management Tools) from providers such as AWS and Azure
• Previous experience with automation, configuration management, and infrastructure provisioning tools (such as Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, CloudFormation, Jenkins, Gitlab…)
• You have knowledge of technologies related to containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift…)
• You have practical knowledge of programming/scripting languages (e.g. java, javascript)
• Awareness of IT security topics and trends, vulnerabilities and their remediation
• A team player, able to work in an environment of high levels of change and complexity
• You work well under pressure and on multiple and conflicting priorities
• Knowledge of system/application monitoring practices and solutions such as AppDynamics, NewRelic or cloud provider-based services is desirable
• Experience mentoring/training the engineering community on complex technical issues
• Insurance or Financial services experience desirable
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
