Job description, responsibilities and duties

The Head of Consolidation and Reporting contributes to Corporate Solutions' business success by focusing on key performance reporting to steer and support the business.

The incumbent leads the Consolidation and Reporting and the EVM production teams with responsibility for the financial reporting and analysis of Corporate Solutions Business Unit results, currently USGAAP and EVM, moving to IFRS in 2024.

The role will ensure consistency across financial views, as well as reporting content and structure and acts as key liaison with Group External Reporting, Tax and Investor Relations on the presentation and communication of Corporate Solutions results.
The Head of Consolidation and Reporting challenges and acts as a sparring partner to the Regional CFOs, Finance Managers and Global FP&A for financial business planning and performance reporting.

Day to day oversight of the accounting, monitoring and implementation of internal financial controls is a key responsibility.

Main tasks/activities
- Lead the Consolidation & Reporting and the EVM production teams in the execution of their key responsibilities, financial planning, analysis, closing and ad-hoc reporting activities
- Consolidates financial views within Corporate Solutions by leading quarterly closing and reporting processes with insightful analytics
- Coordinate the preparation of financial outlooks and financial forecasts
- Provide first level of review for all reporting deliverables
- Provide recommendations for procedural improvements driving operational efficiency
- Manage the relationship and requirements coordination within Finance Corporate Solutions and with Group Function (e.g. Group External Reporting, Investor Relations, Tax, Group Media Relations etc)

Reporting, Compliance & Controlling Activities
- Consolidate, monitor and analyze quarterly & latest projected results against plan - ensure a timely, accurate and efficient consolidation process and provide high quality variance analysis for cohesive explanations of the business unit results in close coordination with Regional CFOs and Finance Managers responsible for legal entity reporting
- Prepare high quality commentaries on Corporate Solutions financial performance for approval by Corporate Solutions CFO and CEO
- Provides regular and ad-hoc scenario reporting and analysis capabilities
- Conducts ad-hoc US GAAP and EVM profitability analyses (e.g., driver analysis, portfolio analysis on specific businesses)
- Support ad hoc requests from the Corporate Solutions EC and Group

- A key Finance point of contact for members of Corporate Solutions Executive Committee
- Attract and develop high-quality talent reflecting longer term needs for the unit and motivate strong performance from staff
- Support Finance development of talent through training and rotation programs to ensure succession for critical positions
- Participate in and lead projects/initiatives for Corporate Solutions and Finance as needed

Personality requirements and skills

- Strong knowledge of P&C insurance industry trends and cycles and their impact on products and profitability, essential
- Strong track record in reporting (US GAAP, EVM), consolidation, steering and financial planning & analysis and financial modelling in complex environments
- Professional Accounting qualification (CPA, CA etc) required with minimum 10 years post qualification experience
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent analytical and presentation skills
- Capable of developing effective relationships with and influencing senior management across the firm, a proven relationship builder, in a complex, cross-functional environment
- Independently minded and critical - capable of analysing numbers critically, creating estimates, and drawing out relevant conclusions
- Consistently demonstrate the Swiss Re values and behaviours - particularly client centricity and agility
- Results focus - outstanding delivery track record to tight deadlines
- Sound understanding of financial reporting risk and controls
