Job description, responsibilities and duties

Are you passionate about the intersection of emerging technologies such as cloud computing, remote sensing, IoT with geospatial and risk data? Do you have the ability to put together unique cutting-edge solutions with geospatial data at its foundation? Do you have a unique combination of deep technical knowledge, modern software architecture concepts, business acumen and strong interpersonal skills? We are seeking a Geospatial Architect & Product Owner to work with our Geospatial Risk Insights expert team and clients to craft cloud-based risk intelligence and geospatial solutions.

The role has the following key responsibilities:
- Take overall responsibility for the successful and timely delivery of Geospatial core capabilities with respective delivery DevOps teams reporting to you.
- Work in innovative projects that require geospatial intelligence and capabilities and provide subject matter expertise.
- Engage in client meetings to support with technical expertise.
- Review progress of all projects against the agreed strategy and project brief and when necessary identify and take steps to ensure that all agreed objectives are achieved
- Ensure that the teams implement Q&A and methodologies in Software Engineering and Operations.
- Identify, evaluate and buy or build new capabilities that will meet the current and future needs of our clients
- Co-develop winning value propositions and solutions together with client management, underwriting, Swiss Re Institute and P&C Solutions functions
- Help the team and Swiss Re's clients to develop and deliver their digital strategy
- Act as a technical liaison between customers, business experts, engineering teams and foster strong collaboration beyond organizational boundaries towards a coherent, consistent and world class set of geo capabilities.
- Work with UX, product, architecture and engineering teams in delivering solutions.
- Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the Geo community at Swiss Re.
- Identify new and develop existing relationships with vendors and partners.

You like to run multiple projects at the same time, lead and coach delivery teams, be at the tech sales forefront and have a comprehensive, end-to-end delivery role. You are experienced in leading and developing high quality, enterprise scale software products using a structured system development lifecycle. You have in-depth knowledge of geospatial technologies and industry to drive technical service/solution direction for the product area. As a native problem-solver, you can navigate ambiguity and are not scared to try new things. You like to present concepts and solutions with a high degree of comfort with both large and small audiences. You can convince clients with your expertise and your ability to market our solutions. You have graduated with a Bachelors or a Master's degree in business, computer science, geoinformatics, insurance or equivalent. You have a passion to learn about how the business are using our solutions as well as the technical aspects of the solutions themselves. You would a great fit if you question and challenge the status quo and you are comfortable in an agile and fluid landscape.

Finally, you should possess a range of skills and the commitment to expand them. The most important skills and experience we are looking for include (but are not limited to):
- Minimum of 5 years working experience in the technology industry or any other industry with a distinct focus on cloud-native technologies and geospatial technologies.
- Hands-on experience with geospatial technologies like geocoding, vector and raster data transformation / storage, map visualization, large geo data processing and entity extraction.
- Up to date on ongoing advancements in large scale geospatial processing in a cloud environment.
- Passionate to deliver and operate tech solutions for our clients in a cost-efficient, professional and customer-focused way. You have profound experience in converting business needs and opportunities into efficient and effective solutions.
- Experience in risk consulting, risk management or re-/insurance industry is a big plus.
- Strong commercial mentality and business acuity
- Excellent leadership and management skills, with experience in an international context and working across different locations.
- Great negotiation skills and ability to make convincing pitches to clients including C-Suite or vendor discussions.
- You like to work in a team and are an excellent networker and connector. You are at ease to effectively communicate across all levels of hierarchy.
- You do not give up easily when facing resistance. In contrary, you are motivated by challenges and find ways to convince and influence people to get to the best outcome.
