Job description, responsibilities and duties

About the role:

As a Senior Application Engineer you will maintain and support an application used by our investment accounting team. On top of this you will also have a chance to interact with multiple applications within the Asset Management landscape. You will experience agile working environment in Asset Management department.

Your responsibilities will be the following:
• Develop and support the existing back office investment reporting framework
• Design and implement high quality business-focused technical solutions on time and according to company standards
• Discussion, design iteration and agreement of the design with the Business Analysts and the product owner
• Provide mentorship on technology, implementation and methodology during the implementation of the software solution. Proposes solutions to complex technical and business problems with respect of existing solutions
• Participation in the implementation phase in collaboration with internal and external partners in an international and multicultural project setup
• Documentation of the technical solution, the data model and the implementation
• Work independently on sub-projects without close supervision
• Provide out of hours support where required
• Open and active cooperation with the project leader and other team members in various locations
• Contribution to the respective change management process

About You:

Key skills, knowledge, qualifications & experience:
• A degree in a technical field or shown experience in Information Technology is required
• Significant working experience with Object-oriented software development (Java, JEE, Eclipse, Spring, Hibernate, Maven, XML)
• Min. 3 years' experience with a relational database platform (preferably Oracle) and practical knowledge of SQL is required
• Ability to work with issue tracking, source control and continuous integration tools
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Experience in IT topics and tasks, interested in new trends and developments
• Independent and responsive in character and work
• Good social skills with orientation on customers and flexible mindset
• Experience in batch programming is an advantage
• JavaScript and C# development skills are a plus

Additional advantageous skills:
• Experience with business intelligence tools such as Business Objects
• Validated experience in all application tiers - user interface, client / server applications, backend processing and databases
• Experience of designing and writing effective unit and regression tests
• Experience in developing web-based applications (HTML5, Angular, GWT, Node.js, TypeScript…)
• Experience with Web services (REST, WSDL, …)
• Understanding of data modelling concepts
• Experience of Excel and VBA
• Exposure to Financial Markets and understanding of financial products
• Familiarity with agile frameworks and tooling (Scrum, Kanban)
• Good command of English (both verbal and written) is required.
