About the role

We are looking for a Senior Reporting Expert to develop and lead a team of Statutory and US Gaap Accounting experts for our Non-Regulated carriers. You will be responsible for the Accounting & Reporting of the assigned legal entities according to the relevant accounting principles and ensure compliance with local and group requirements and the internal control framework.

Core responsibilities include:
•Statutory Closing & Reporting for Non-Regulated Companies (including management reporting and reporting to the Board of Directors)
•Group Reporting according to US Gaap accounting principles as well as Economic Valuation method (EVM) and respective analysis and reporting to the CFO's and other stakeholders
•Coordination and oversight over annual external audit and key contact for internal and external auditors
•Contribution to strategic projects as required
•Individual and team development and performance management

Besides the overall responsibility for the accounting and reporting of the assigned entities, the Team Leader is also expected to closely coordinate and liase with other Reinsurance Finance Carrier and Accounting & Reporting teams, Treasury, Tax, External Reporting and other key stakeholders

The position acts with a high degree of autonomy & discretion within the delegated authority

Main tasks/ Activities:
•Manage a small team of accounting experts dedicated to UK & Service companies
•Responsibility for legal entity statutory closing and reporting activities in compliance with relevant accounting principles
•Responsibility for group reporting of the assigned entities (US Gaap and EVM)
•Management and mitigation of financial reporting risks in line with internal control framework
•Responsibility for coordination with internal and external auditors to conduct, review and respond to audit activities
•Ensure operational compliance with local and group policies and internal control framework

Stakeholders and Customers:
Communicates effectively with stakeholders and partners to ensure common goals and expectations. The main stakeholders are External Reporting, Internal and External Audit, Finance Reinsurance teams, Treasury, Tax, Cost Controlling, Standards and Governance teams, local Management of the legal entities and respective Board of Directors

Leadership and Management:
•Oversees accounting experts and manages activities related to financial closing and reporting
•Recruits and develops resources required to fulfill respective mandate
•Assigns work and manages individual and team performance
•Ensures trustful and open communication - leads by example and lives our values
•Engages and Inspires - acts and behaves as ambassador of our strategic direction and values

About the team

We are a team spread in different locations within EMEA region with our main mandate to proceed with quarterly and annually closing activities including the preparation of the final reporting packages presented to senior management. We are based in Switzerland, Luxembourg, Germany, Slovakia and UK.

Our main partners are Non-Technical Accounting team, Global Investment Reporting team, Real Estate team, Treasury, Tax and Global Service Operations.

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

About you

- 10+ years in Accounting or Audit with respective Accounting Qualification or CPA
- Proven management experience in leading teams in a global environment
- Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken)
- Expert knowledge regarding relevant statutory accounting and reporting policies
- Proven experience with statutory accounting including the production of Annual Accounts, the Audit process and respective reporting to Committees and Boards
- Analytical skills with the ability to deliver quality output on short deadlines and manage details without losing sight of the big picture
- Ability to work on own initiative, in a target-oriented environment
- Manages multiple priorities and competing demands. Acts resourcefully to ensure that work is completed within specified time and quality targets
- Analytical and methodical work-style combined with good business judgment and high-quality output
- Ability to communicate at the senior management level
- Ability to influence in a complex, cross-functional and multi-location environment
- Fluent in English, any other European language is a plus
