Job description, responsibilities and duties

As a key member of the team, we are looking for a highly motivated individual who will support the financial reporting and consolidation process for the Business Unit Corporate Solutions.

If you are keen to gain (further) insight and expert knowledge into economic value principles and traditional re(insurance) business, which will allow you to analyze and explain deviations in financial results, this is the ideal opportunity. A key responsibility will be to drive the quarterly reporting process and ensure timely preparation of high quality deliverables and engaging with and managing various business partners. You will also support key initiatives and projects, including financial reporting IT developments and accounting standards developments (i.e. IFRS 19).

Key responsibilities include:
• Support the EVM finance manager in all processes and deliverables related to the quarterly closing process and support further improvements on the overall process
• Ensure timely and accurate analysis and reporting of EVM financials
• Develop an advanced understanding of economic value measurement for underwriting and investment activities and understand the differences compared to traditional valuation approaches
• Support other finance functions with regards to internal EVM reporting deliverables
• Evolve in a multi-disciplinary environment and work closely with finance and risk management experts to prepare and understand their EVM financial results; engage with other functions within the business to further expand and explain EVM know-how
• Own the way you work and have the possibility to make a difference
• Facilitate, plan, maintain and improve processes, timelines and reporting templates
• Global ad-hoc requests
• Able to perform the above tasks with a high degree of autonomy, while partnering closely with all relevant stakeholders

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

• Educational/Professional
o University graduate with a primary or higher degree (or equivalent), preferably in finance/accounting/economics and with at least 3 years of relevant working in financial planning & analysis or controlling activities preferably within a (Re)insurance environment
o Previous experience in Finance or Risk Management desirable
o Experience within the non-life insurance industry is an asset
o Strong ability to analyse and interpret financial data

• Key skills and knowledge
o Excellent analytical skills with holistic financial thinking and the ability to deliver high quality output to short deadlines
o Eagerness to learn and gain EVM and finance reporting experience (if not already available)
o Aptitude to swiftly understand and grasp complex concepts and subjects
o Excellent communication skills, ability to interact with business partners from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Flexibility to work in both a collaborative team environment as well as independently
o Team player with strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
o Strong MS Office (specifically Excel) skills required
o Excellent command of English (spoken and written)
o Stress resilient, with the ability to work independent
o Demonstrate personal accountability for area of responsibility
