Are you passionate about helping to build a new, complete, Finance team in Bratislava?

iptiQ EMEA is in the final stages of setting up a new Finance Operations team in Bratislava. iptiQ EMEA is an operating entity within the Life Capital BU created 1 Jan 2016 to drive Swiss Re's direct to consumer propositions.

You will be responsible for leading the Policy and Accounting Controls team, with ownership of the technical accounting. Additionally you will control the collation of other reporting teams into the trial balance. You will manage three staff (with more likely in the near future) and be responsible for the production of accurate and complete trial balances at both a Legal Entity and Branch level in the various reporting GAAPs for the iptiQ Life SA and iptiQ Holdings Ltd Legal entities. You will be pivotal in establishing a robust plan approach, and the subsequent monitoring of iptiQ's performance during the year and include building efficiency and improvements in execution in our current systems.

There is also an expectation for continuous improvement and involvement in the development of systems and processes to meet policy accounting and control requirements.

The Finance team will have numerous responsibilities for day-to-day operational finance activities as well as accounting, reporting, analytics and commentaries according to accounting policies for Group, Local Branch & Entities, Economic, and Solvency II valuation principles for iptiQ Life SA and iptiQ Holdings Ltd where relevant.

Your team will also play a key role, liaising with External Third Party Administrators (TPA), to ensure Finance has the appropriate oversight and controls in place to ensure Policy Holder Data is correctly calculated and booked correctly in our ledger.

Main tasks/activities:
•Manage, develop and oversee a team of 3+ accountants
•Develop and mentor team members to improve team capability
•Establish a process excellence culture and drive process improvement where required
•Assign work and manage individual and team performance
•Stakeholder management for both the Life and Holding company entities across the relevant accounting valuations (US GAAP, Lux stat and IFRS)
•Perform quality and consistency checks on deliverables and outputs
•Support comprehensive analysis and business commentaries with respect to the accounting policy, reporting, monitoring and reconciliation activities according to the management requirements
•Oversee, and directly liaise and manage the Third Party Policy Administrator finance and accounting activity, ensuring completeness, accuracy and timeliness of incoming data
•Oversee the validation and review of Investment accounting and reporting delivered to our Ledger by the internal Swiss Re Asset Management function
•Accurate calculation and booking of internal and external retrocession agreements
•Assist preparation of timely and accurately data for internal and external reporting
•Ensure compliance with the risk and control framework and the audit requirements
•Contribute and support Finance related projects, including new deals
•Perform ad-hoc tasks as required

University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Microsoft Excel - advanced

Personality requirements and skills

•Five or more years of work experience in the financial services industry (preferably including two in the insurance sector)
•University degree in Economics, Science, Accounting or Business Administration
•Qualification in Accounting and/or Audit
•Knowledge of statutory accounting policies and regulatory framework
•Excellent analytical skills with holistic financial thinking
•Strong communication skills - ability to communicate complex issues in a clear and concise fashion
•Strong evidence of managing external relationships and deliverables
•Experience in USGAAP/IFRS desirable
•PC skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
•Teammate with good interpersonal skills
•Engaging and motivating
•Excellent command of the English language and German/French as a plus
