Job description, responsibilities and duties

You will be embedded in the Strategy EMEA team, led by the Head of Strategy EMEA and consisting of five people, including the team lead. The team is responsible for two main areas:
1) Running the EMEA Executive Office, supporting the Reinsurance CEO EMEA in his dual role of division head for EMEA as well as Regional President EMEA.
2) The strategy members of the team are supporting and advising the EMEA Management Team cross-functionally on all matters related to strategy, from business opportunity assessment, market analysis to the development of implementation plans for strategic growth initiatives or the regional steering of sales effectiveness activities.

We are looking for a curious, positive and dynamic self-starter to join the Strategy team of EMEA Reinsurance. This position in Division Europe, Middle East & Africa offers an exciting and varied role in a truly international business environment. You will regularly interact with and get exposure to senior executives such as Market Executives or Product Hub Heads.

A true team player is needed for this job, with a collaborative attitude within and across teams. Strong communication skills are a key ingredient.
Your portfolio of tasks in this role is broad and diverse, and requires agility and adaptability.

Main tasks and responsibilities:
• You support the EMEA strategic cycle by performing business opportunity assessments and working closely with the local market teams in order to recommend to the EMEA Management Team where to set the priorities
• You own strategic deep dives on topics assigned to you. This includes desk research, reaching out to the local market teams, coming up with sound analyses, business cases and recommendations
• You support the champions of a strategic priority for EMEA in setting up robust implementation plans and are a sparring partner for EMEA Management Team members.
• You prepare presentations and analysis for internal management meetings (mostly EMEA Management Team or EMEA Origination Team as well as project review boards)
• You support specific tasks related to the regional steering of differentiation and sales effectiveness

Requirements for the employee

University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

• You are an energetic person, who has a "can do" mentality and a relentless focus on execution
• You have 5 years of re/insurance experience and are familiar with the industry trends
• You have the skill to see the big picture and connect the dots
• You have experience in strategy work e.g. by having worked previously as a business consultant
• You have successfully ran small to mid-sized projects, demonstrating end-to-end thinking and your organizational skills
• You are at ease with writing succinct and convincing storylines for senior management audiences
• You are a conceptual and analytical mind, willing to assess facts in some detail
• You have a strong sense of ownership and commitment for your assignments, delivering in good quality, in time and also under pressure
• You are a team player demonstrating excellent collaboration behaviours, within the team and across teams
• You have outstanding communication (in writing and orally) and presentation skills (mostly PowerPoint), including an impeccable command of English and preferably another European language
• You have already built, or are able to build quickly, a good cross-functional network, and can connect the various parts of the reinsurance value chain
• You are comfortable in dealing with senior executives and across all hierarchy levels
• You like to work in a dynamic and diverse environment and are able to adapt quickly to changing priorities
• You manage ambiguity well and deal positively with conflict
• You are experienced in learning and working independently
