Job description, responsibilities and duties

• Performing General Ledger controlling, accounting and reporting activities for assigned entities in accordance with statutory and group requirements
• General Ledger closing activities performed quarterly
• Preparation of local financial statements and regulatory reporting
• Delivering presentations to Branch business leaders (financial analysis)
• Provide accurate financial information to top management to enable timely and accurate decision making
• Financial reporting to local tax teams
• Reconciliation process between local statutory and group accounting principles
• Ensure compliance with the risk and control framework and audit requirements
• Support audit activities and prepare requested information
• Participate and support Finance related projects and perform ad hoc tasks as required
• Identify and evaluate process improvement possibilities

About the team:
The Corporate Solutions Branch Controlling Team is responsible for supporting the corporate branches of Swiss Re with accounting, controlling, financial analysis and reporting according to local statutory, IFRS and US GAAP policies and local tax jurisdictions. All team members support legal entity and branch accounting, controlling and reporting activities as well as you seek possibilities for process improvement. Further, we ensure compliance with the risk and control framework and audit requirements. Each team member has complex financial overview about assigned entities therefore we are able to provide our stakeholders with very worthy and reliable financial analysis. As our department is rapidly growing over time, we are searching for new colleagues to become a part of our Branch Controlling team.

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

• Ideally five years of work experience in accounting/financial reporting (insurance business is advantage)
• Qualification in Accounting, Audit, Finance and/or university degree in Economics, Science or Business Administration
• ACCA certification or equivalent is advantage (training support provided)
• Profound knowledge of statutory accounting policies and regulatory frameworks
• Understanding of financial reporting processes, risk and controls
• Experience with accounting under IFRS/US GAAP is advantage
• Experience in the use of standard bookkeeping software for financial accounting
• Proven PC skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Good interpersonal skills
• Engaged and motivated, adaptability and flexibility
• Structured and independent work approach and strong analytical skills
• Fluent English written and spoken
• Additional languages (German/Italian/French/Spanish) an advantage
