About the Team

The Life Capital Finance team in Bratislava is responsible for the quarterly financial closing for US GAAP, EVM and our statutory valuations for our legal entities.

In addition the team also contributes to the financial planning and analysis of the entities, providing quality management information for reporting and decision making, both historic and forward looking projections. We also contribute to a number of development projects.

The Life Capital business unit, through its Operating Entities provide access to attractive and growing primary risk pools.

About the Role

We are now recruiting a Finance Business Partner with an accounting background, passionate about being involved in the growing business unit.

This role will require you to apply your accounting and reporting knowhow into the expense management of our head office departments. You will work closely with the Cost Controller, the functional heads and the Chief Technology & Operations office (CTOO). You will also develop your understanding of different valuation principles (US GAAP, Statutory and EVM) and respective internal and external reporting requirements.

Main tasks:

Business partnering and decision support
- Advise the relevant Life Capital management function on the financial base of the function, interpreting, analysing and driving performance
- Identify cost optimisation opportunities leading to the overall improvement of the cost base of the function
- Facilitate discussion and decision outcomes through the management of meetings and the provision of concise, well presented decision support analysis

Planning, forecasting and monthly variance process
- Support Life Capital management in creating a bottom up, driver based 1 and 3 year expense plan which aligns to the top down constraints provided by management
- Provide a forward looking view of performance through forecasting, analysing expense drivers and identifying risk and opportunities
- Identify both headcount and financial variance to plan and forecast providing business level explanation of these variances
- Support functions in identifying action plans to resolve variances
- Collaboration with FPA for cost walk for US GAAP Operating Expenses
- Work with the Cost Controller to ensure expense projections are loaded correctly into the Swiss Re reporting and planning systems
- Collaboration with local finance for month end and quarter end close cycle
- Partnering with the CTOO on intra group allocation production and analysis

Ad-hoc analysis and projects
- Support and develop ad-hoc business financial analyses and conduct reviews with function heads
- Provide ad-hoc project support to the functions, including financial input to business cases, impact on the expense performance etc.
- Manage the production of allocation keys and drivers for the functions

About You

Knowledge:
- Accounting and Reporting systems including data entry, journal preparation, monthly reconciliations and the extraction of reports.
- Understanding and production of Income statement and Balance sheets
- Ability to work within an appropriate control environment

Skills:
- Communicate effectively at all levels, including written and oral presentation, engaging partners as appropriate
- Demonstrate good organisational skills, with an analytical and structured approach to work
- Work well in a team or independently and involving others appropriately in the business
- Computer-literate with excel and operating systems knowledge

Experience:
- Accounting knowledge through a relevant qualification.
- Experience in a finance department.
- Experience in producing management reports
