Job description, responsibilities and duties
The Director of Software Engineering will be responsible for mentoring and managing Product Development teams as we continue to grow our product lines and focus. The ideal candidate will become the leader for our EMEA development teams, while being expected to roll up their sleeves and contribute to our core codebases.
You will work with the head of IT & Cloud Operations, Quality Operations, Architecture, and Product Management to ensure on-time and on-budget deliverables are shipped with the highest level of quality possible. You are expected to lead the Scrum teams in designing and implementing cutting edge software projects and will also work closely with Architects as part of the Engineering Leadership Team to set the architectural direction for your products. In addition, the Director of Software Engineering is responsible for adopting, maintaining, and implementing best practices with the scrum masters, software engineers, test engineers and QA through example, guidance, and training.
As the leader of these teams, you will be responsible for the overall software development life cycle, process, communication, collaboration and people management.
Duties include:
Lead, mentor and support a highly effective team of passionate engineers fostering a high-performance culture.
Enable a culture of creativity, collaboration, speed, innovation, and excellence while continuously elevating the quality and caliber of our engineering organization
Recruit world‐class engineering talent and participate in the process including attracting, screening, and closing high caliber candidates.
Participate in strategic planning meetings with product management, architecture, and other business units.
Contribute to technical engineering designs, resource management, and implementations
Manage the delivery of software using Agile best practices
Build cross-department relationships centered on executing company strategy
Solve complex software engineering tasks, while maintaining coding standards and practices
Communicate effectively with team members, internal and external customers
Measure KPI’s such as velocity, estimation accuracy and defect leakage percentages

Experience with managing the day-to-day activities of an engineering team using Agile/Scrum processes.
