Senior Engineer Hardware Public Cloud

We are looking for people who are professionals with a great deal of enthusiasm forcloud technology and who are up to the challenges created by the development and operation of a hyper-scale public cloud.

As "Engineer Hardware Public Cloud" you understand the latest developments in cloud and hardware technology. Customer-oriented, you will further develop the hardware architecture of our Open Telekom Cloud platform.

- Be responsible for the structured expansion and upgrading of our hardware under hyper-scaler conditions.
- Be a trusted advisor for public cloud technology.
- Consistently automate with common automation frameworks.
- Get your hands "dirty" without reservations.
- Work in a team of specialists where everyone helps each other openly and with trust..

Further details on possible tasks:

- You coordinate service providers, e.g. for setup, maintenance and data protection services.
- You qualify new hardware and develop standards for server, storage and network hardware for roll-out in our data centers.
- You are responsible for accurate asset management.
- You take care of site management in our data centers.
- You will evolve the platform hardware architecture in collaboration with the vendor. 

• Completed studies in a technical, engineering or scientific subject or comparable professional training. 
• 3-5 years of professional experience in IT with a focus on cloud and data centers. 
• In-depth knowledge of server, storage and networking hardware.
• Strong experience in Linux and network related services. 
• Practice in hardware-oriented infrastructure automation and asset management.
• High level of customer focus.
• Knowledge of agile development processes.
• Ability to assess technical solutions and come up with creative solutions.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• You will be working in the European Union to meet our customers' data security and privacy requirements. 

Further profile details:

- Extensive experience in at least two of the following areas: Enterprise server solutions, enterprise storage solutions, rack-level power design/management, complex network cabling design.

• Knowledge in secure scale-out cloud applications as well as the necessary technological building blocks and tools (e.g. PaaS frameworks with CloudFoundry/OpenShift/Docker)
• Deep knowledge of system technologies (Linux, Xen/KVM, Linux Network and Storage, system tools) as well as OpenStack and Docker/LXC/LXD container technologies.
• Deep knowledge of agile development practices and experience in tightly integrating development and application operations in the cloud (DevOps) 
• Infrastructure automation, e.g. Ansible.
• Collaboration tools in an agile environment (e.g. GitHub, JIRA, Confluence)
