Main Responsibilities
- Installation and configuration of Siemens Grid Control Systems, including hardware, software, and relevant third-party products such as operating systems, Nagios, and related components
- Administration and support of Linux / UNIX and Windows Server environments
- Preparation of test cases and execution of basic system and infrastructure tests
- Detection, analysis, and troubleshooting of issues in solutions used 24/7 within critical infrastructure
- Responsibility for the system infrastructure of complex control center computer systems, including planning, configuration, and testing of:
- Firewalls
- DMZ environments
- IP addressing
- Vulnerability testing
- Network and routing basics
- Applying and maintaining IT security standards for critical infrastructure systems, including:
- Multifactor authentication (MFA)
- Encryption standards and protocols
- System hardening
- Malware protection in air-gapped environments
- Centralized user management
- Role-based access control (RBAC)
- Security standards and benchmarks such as CIS Benchmark, ISO 27001, and IEC 62443
- Supporting infrastructure topics such as:
- Clustering and redundancy
- Hardening of IT infrastructure
- Authentication concepts
- Clarifying technical concepts and solutions with customers
- Supporting the Sales Department with technical concepts and consulting during tender processes
- Reading, understanding, and analyzing shell scripts and source code where needed
- Supporting continuous improvement and operational excellence in a diverse international environment
Requirements
Technical Skills
- Good command of English (minimum B2 level)
- Advanced knowledge of Linux / UNIX administration
- Good knowledge of Windows Server administration
- Basic knowledge of network technologies, especially routing and switching
- Ability to read and understand shell scripts
- Basic scripting / programming knowledge (e.g. Bash, PowerShell, ksh) is an advantage
- Basic understanding of source code (e.g. C, C++, Perl) is beneficial
- Familiarity with Git
- Basic knowledge of IT security, including hardening, patch management, authentication concepts, and encryption
- Knowledge of hardware and enterprise server technologies, such as:
- BIOS configuration
- RAID arrays
- Clustering
- Redundancy concepts
- Basic understanding of Oracle Database
- Experience with virtualization technologies is an advantage – KVM, RHEL OpenShift, VMWARE
- Good to have: knowledge of Ansible for automation of system administration tasks
- Optional: knowledge of Solaris
- Experience with Jira / Confluence
Language Skills
- English – Intermediate level (B2)
- German – is an advantage, or willingness to learn
Education & Experience
- Relevant IT education background (University degree in Information Technology or comparable practical experience)
- Experience in system administration within Linux / UNIX environments
- Experience with Windows Server administration is desirable
- Experience in infrastructure-related projects or support for critical systems is an advantage
