Job description, responsibilities and duties

The role of an SAP Infrastructure Engineer is crucial for configuring and maintaining the SAP infrastructure components such as servers, storage, and network devices. In this role, the SAP Infrastructure Engineer must have expertise in server administration, storage management, and network engineering with extensive background knowledge on SAP specific requirements. Here are some of the key responsibilities of an SAP Infrastructure Engineer:

  • Configure and maintain SAP infrastructure components: The SAP Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for configuring and maintaining the SAP infrastructure components such as servers, storage, and network devices. They ensure that the SAP infrastructure is optimized for performance, security, and availability.
  • Install and configure SAP software: The SAP Infrastructure Engineer must install and configure the SAP software components such as SAP application servers, database servers, and web servers. They ensure that the software components are configured correctly and integrated with other enterprise systems.
  • Manage SAP backups and disaster recovery: The SAP Infrastructure Engineer must design and implement backup and disaster recovery solutions for the SAP environment. They ensure that the backup and recovery processes are tested regularly and meet the Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO).
  • Monitor and troubleshoot SAP infrastructure issues: The SAP Infrastructure Engineer must monitor the SAP infrastructure for issues such as performance bottlenecks, resource utilization, and security threats. They troubleshoot and resolve the issues promptly to minimize downtime and service disruptions.
  • Develop and maintain SAP infrastructure documentation: The SAP Infrastructure Engineer must develop and maintain documentation for the SAP infrastructure, including installation and configuration procedures, troubleshooting guides, and operational procedures. They ensure that the documentation is up-to-date and accessible to other team members.
  • Collaborate with other teams: The SAP Infrastructure Engineer must collaborate with other teams, mainly with our SAP functional team as well as external providers, SAP Basis administrators, SAP architects, and security consultants, to ensure that the SAP infrastructure supports the business requirements and meets the security and compliance requirements.

Overall, the SAP Infrastructure Engineer is a critical role for configuring and maintaining the SAP infrastructure to support the business needs, ensuring that it is optimized for performance, security, and availability. They must have excellent technical skills, problem-solving skills, and communication skills to work effectively with other teams and stakeholders.


Basic wage component (gross) and other rewards: starting from 2500 EUR brutto /month + VAR*
