Information about the position
Job description, responsibilities and duties
For our client we are looking for an experienced senior Visual Basic Developer with knowledge on Windows platform OR senior KornShell Developer with knowledge on Unix platform.
Our solution is a key component in the Standard Reference Architecture (SRA) environment, focused on resolving tickets with no manual involvement.
Nowadays, we maintain over 80 global scripts that troubleshoot incidents across all towers (Win, UX, DB, NW, BKP) and touch over 150k incident tickets per month.
Automation content (AC) is documented in a “Cookbook” (CB) created by Subject Matter Expert (SME) and approved by Delivery Capability Leaders. CBs drive the automation flow and script creation. Script can automatically perform all steps required to resolve and close tickets.
Primary role would be to act as technical “supervisor” for all the written cookbooks and once approved translate them into scripts.
Responsibilities:
• The main focus will be to translate Cookbooks into Automation Content (scripts).
• Monitor, maintain and keep scripts up to date.
• Analyze and process Automation Requests to validate feasibility, benefits they would bring, if they can be deployed regionally or globally, their priority, their urgency, timelines required for the implementation, best implementation solution.
• Use OS/technology related experiences during the process of CB creation.
• The main focus will be to translate Cookbooks into Automation Content (scripts).
• Monitor, maintain and keep scripts up to date.
• Identify possible issues and room for improvement in a proactive way.
• Keep technical documentation that describes scripts developed up to date
The job is to be done in an Operations environment and/or engagement on multiple projects based on the requirements.
Profile Requirements:
The candidate(s) must possess active experience in a work environment for the required skills and desired knowledge, familiar with ITIL.
Required skills
• Good knowledge (administrator) on Windows platform
• Scripting in VBS
OR
• Good knowledge (administrator) on UNIX platform (Linux, HP-UX, AIX, Solaris)
• Scripting in Korn Shell
Other skills
• Scripting in Python is advantage
• ITO OS Delivery experience is advantage
• Knowledge/experience in any of these is advantage
