Job description, responsibilities and duties
We in Roche are fully committed in Doing Now What Patients Need Next. As an enterprise minded leader, the Head of Accounting will be responsible for the accounting function within the affiliate, including reporting, month end and year end accounting, tax and projects. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will lead a team of two Accountants, enable best practice, represent Roche Slovakia within the Roche global accounting community and ensure finance processes are lean and effective.
You will have deep insights into your area and a desire to learn other areas of expertise. You will be able to work independently and influence others to deliver the best experience to all stakeholders.
You are a Finance professional with project management know-how and a strong entrepreneurial mindset. You have a strong desire to experiment how work is performed, and you can quickly identify ways to streamline processes/activities while still providing the best customer experience.
The key responsibilities include:
- Prepare all statutory postings required under local GAAP and statutory financial statements
- IFRS accounting and reporting
- Actively participate in month-end close activities, such as reporting, data reconciliation, preparation/reviewing of journal entries
- Reconcile annual legal entity reporting between IFRS and local GAAP
- Oversee and manage tax
- Be the main contact for external and internal auditors
- Ensure compliance with group accounting standards
- Manage and/or support major accounting projects and their implementation, in coordination with Roche Group Accounting
- Represent the Slovak affiliate within the Roche accounting community
- Manage two resources

Personality requirements and skills
You display strong stakeholder management, with the ability to influence at all levels and to position ideas and manage expectations of various stakeholders. You think out of the box, strategically beyond the immediate future and are well versed in relationship-building in a multi-cultural environment.
- A Bachelor degree is required, and a master degree in accounting/controlling is preferred
- Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA) with a well-developed accounting mindset and ability to communicate complex accounting topics and recommendations to key stakeholders
- Experience in completing financial reports for statutory reporting
- Must be able to translate principles of Finance theory into practical application and be capable of providing guidance to Finance and business
- Team player, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and bring the agile way of working, empowered decision making
- A Bachelor degree is required, and a master degree in accounting/controlling is preferred
